About this file

This document is a combined synopsis and solicitation requesting quotations for a Vector Network Analyzer system. The Naval Research Laboratory requires a Vector Network Analyzer and associated accessories to extend its measurement capabilities up to 110 GHz, including a base VNA unit operating from 900 Hz to 26.5 GHz, a mm-wave frequency extender from 26.5 to 110 GHz, a calibration kit for 1 mm coaxial connectors from DC to 120 GHz, and extended warranty and calibration plans. Quotations are due by 26 weeks after receipt of order, with earlier delivery preferred. The place of delivery is specified as the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. The solicitation identifies required equipment specifications and salient characteristics in an attachment. The associated NAICS code is 334515 and eligible vendors include original equipment manufacturers and authorized resellers.

ADDITION TO NRL’S ANTENNA RANGE MEASUREMENT FACILITY

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has a requirement for the following pieces of equipment to be used in the RADAR Division Antenna Measurement Facility. The new equipment will extend system integrated and portable standalone measurement capabilities up to 100 GHz, extending measurement frequency ranges beyond the existing 50 GHz limit. The specifications below shall be met in order to be a backward-compatible replacement to the existing setup based on a 50 GHz PNA-X Vector Network Analyzer. For responses to the RFQ, please provide technical backup that the product offered meets all required specifications and is fully backward compatible with the existing 50 GHz PNA-X range measurement setup and Keysight electronic calibration kits.

It is understood that these mm-wave Vector Network Analyzer systems consist of a base VNA unit plus a mm-wave extender ‘add-on’ system. This requirement includes both the working base VNA unit, plus the add-on mm-wave frequency extender system and all configuration options + connectivity hardware to create the fully-functional 900 Hz to 110 GHz PNA. The Keysight N5222B (26.5 GHz upper frequency) is one of the few known base VNA units that will satisfy this requirement.

900 Hz to 110 GHz PNA MM-Wave System (Vector/PNA Network Analyzer)

• Mm-wave frequency extender, range: 900 Hz to 110 GHz

• Base stand-alone VNA unit, 26.5 GHz

• Proper configuration and connectivity hardware to enable the assembled mm-wave system to operate from 900 Hz to 110 GHz

• IF Bandwidtdh Range: 1 Hz to 15 MHz

• Dynamic Range of > 115dB

• Broadband single-sweep measurements with compact frequency extenders based on standard 1.0mm coaxial connectors

• Complete calibration kit for 1.0mm coaxial connectors (DC to 120 GHz)

• Minimum of two RF ports (3.5mm, compatible with 1.0mm mm-wave extenders)

• Two-way 2-port vector S-parameter collection

• Bench top and portable rack mount chassis

• Built-in network integration for rapid data collection

• Built-in data storage

• Built-in USB 2.0 or higher, 4-port minimum

• Built-in touch-screen LCD measurement display, 1280x800 minimum resolution

• Display Magnitude range 2500 dB

• Display Phase Range 2500 degrees

• Time gating functions

• External keyboard and mouse data input

• BNC 10 MHz In/Out Reference channels

• External IF input (SMA connector)
