Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory has a need for a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer that will meet or exceed the following minimum requirements:

1. Shielded 400 MHz magnet with 5G fringe field within the magnet footprint. Must have a track record for quoted magnet.

2. Multi -receive capability- each channel has a transmitter and receiver on one board allowing more than one nucleus to be simultaneously acquired during one experiment. This technology must be already proven, i.e. being utilized in customer’s laboratories.

3. Each channel has a dedicated pulse programmer with 1GB waveform memory

4. Probe design that allows spinning of samples with 3 to 5 mm sample diameter.

5. Simultaneous amplitude, frequency, and phase within 12.5 nsec.

6. High intermediate frequency to eliminate the spurious or mixing frequency artifacts in the observe and decoupling windows

7. Double precision data storage format.

8. A power distribution unit that powers the system up and ramps it down sequentially to eliminate power surges that could damage the equipment.

9. One broadbanded probe that includes observing 205/203Tl and 2H in addition to 1H, 19F, and the broadband regions 31P-199Hg and 17O-109Ag. Must be capable of 1H decoupled broadband observation, to include 19F{1H}. Does not need external VT adaptors or RF filters. Probe must have Z-gradient capability (gradient strength ≥ 0.5 T/m, recovery time ≤ 100 microseconds) and minimum sensitivity for 1H ≥ 550:1 (0.1% ethylbenzene); 19F{1H} sensitivity ≥ 500:1 (trifluorotoluene standard, 1 ppm noise); 13C{1H} sensitivity ≥ 230:1 (10% ethylbenzene, 40 ppm noise); 31P ≥ 200:1 (triphenylphosphate standard, 5 ppm noise); 15N ≥ 25:1 (90% formamide, 2 ppm noise); 90 ° pulse widths 1H ≤ 10 µs; 19F ≤ 18 µs; 13C ≤ 10 µs; 31P ≤ 8 µs; 15N ≤ 21 µs; 13C spinning lineshape (ASTM standard ) HHLW =≤ 0.2 Hz, 0.55% LW ≤ 2 Hz, 0.11% LW ≤ 4 Hz; 1H spinning lineshape (1% CHCl3) HHLW ≤ 0.5 Hz, 0.55% LW ≤ 6 Hz, 0.11% LW ≤ 12 Hz; 1H non-spinning lineshape (1% CHCl3) HHLW≤ 0.8 Hz, 0.55% LW ≤ 7 Hz, 0.11% LW ≤ 14 Hz.

10. In addition to acquisition and processing software, integrated software that automatically verifies the structure and a guide that organizes and describes the available experiments.

11. Two RF channel system, one high band and one broadbanded

12. Variable temperature capabilities from +120 ⁰C to -100 ⁰C.

13. Rigging to remove current magnet and install the new magnet

14. Liquid helium for magnet installation must be provided

15. Installation of new instrument.

16. Application and service support for at least 1-year

17. Console must be capable of operating Z gradient

18. Probe must have auto tune and match

19. Include line for helium transfer

20. Windows based PD equipped with monitor and compatible laser printer

21. Software for acquisition and processing all acquired spectra on instrument computer.

22. Software for processing acquired spectra on non-instrument computer (site license or able to be installed on >15 users individual PC)
