About this file
This Material Ordering Data document specifies detailed requirements for high-carbon cast-steel grit to be procured by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The order calls for 100 drums of G50 grade steel grit, manufactured new and not recycled, with a hardness range of 54 to 61 HRC. Packaging requirements include steel drums that must be poly-lined and sealed, with pallets poly-covered.
Sampling and testing protocols are extensively detailed, including a specific sample schedule based on lot size, with requirements that ten particles from each sample undergo hardness testing. Three hardness readings per particle are mandated, with 90% of readings required to be within the specified range. If any sample fails testing, the entire order will be rejected. Additional requirements include marking containers per MIL-STD-129 and following DLA Procurement Note C20 for container instructions. The document references SAE J1993 and SAE J444 specifications for cast-steel grit and sizing standards.
