About this file
This document contains responses to questions regarding a federal solicitation for a Windows 10 Baseline System Upgrade. The solicitation seeks to upgrade various Marine Corps systems to Windows 10, including replacing all client PCs at 11 installations. The servers and storage requirements are identified for E911, CAD, and syslog systems, including virtualization plans and specs. Clearance requirements and asset tagging procedures are also outlined. The responses indicate the work will include developing a Windows 10 image, equipment installation at various sites, and integration testing at a government lab in Charleston, SC.

Sheet1 M67854-20-I-4906 Amendment 1 Attachment B: Responses - Request for Information Questions/Requests for Clarification/Comments
| Count | Ref: Sources Sought or Attachment #/Section | Request for Information Questions/Requests for Clarification/Comments | Government Response |
| 1 | Sources Sought | Does the government intend to run the workloads in a virtual environment? |
If yes, what hyper-visor will be employed?
If yes, how many estimated Virtual Machines will be spun up on each host?
For those Hosts, do you have systems requirements for the resources you will need to assign to the VMs? The Government intends to run a portion of the workload in a virtualized environment. (Primarily the CAD servers.) Vsphere Hypervisor ESXi V6.0 will be used. Between 2-to-4 virtual hosts will be employed on each physical CAD server. The design calls for four (4) physical servers for CAD. Current known VM resource allocation is as follows:
Virtualization Server 1: Total memory: 14 Gb, Total processor cores: 112 Virtualization Server 2: Total memory: 18 Gb, Total processor cores: 96 Virtualization Server 3: Total memory: 12 Gb, Total processor cores: 128 Virtualization Server 4: Total memory: 16 Gb, Total processor cores: 128
| 2 | Sources Sought | Is it safe to assume, for Rough Estimation, that we will have to supply around 8 x Servers per site for approximately 11 sites? If not, please correct with proper quantity estimates. | Yes, however, the Government is considering virtualizing the SYSLOG server onto one of the CAD servers. |
| 3 | Sources Sought | More of a follow on from our first question: Are there any System specs that we can go off of in terms of the Resources needed/compute/storage? We will need, at the minimum, your systems requirements or current system requirements in order to properly estimate systems costs (which will play the largest part in the proposal). | CAD servers 256 GB memory per DL360 Gen9 8SFF CTO. E911 servers 32 GB memory per R740. |
| 4 | Sources Sought | Other than Servers, are any Workstations and Monitors, Thin Clients, or Storage Arrays needed? If so, how many approx. per site and how many sites? | Work stations (clients) and monitors will be needed. There will be no thin clients in this design. Two (2) Network Assigned Storage (NAS) devices will be used per location (11 locations). |
| 5 | Sources Sought | Can a list of the number of client PC’s that need to be migrated/replaced at each Installation? Will all client PC hardware be replaced or will some be upgraded to Windows 10 in place? | All clients will be replaced due to our current PCs status at End of Life. Location 1: 5 CAD clients, 5 CAD web clients Location 2: 6 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 3: 9 CAD Clients, 5 CAD web clients , 9 E911 clients, 2 E911 Admin WS Location 4: 4 CAD Clients, 4 CAD web clients, 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 5: 4 CAD Clients, 3 CAD web clients, 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 6: 4 CAD Clients, 14 CAD web clients, 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 7: 8 CAD Clients, 10 CAD web clients, 8 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 8: 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 9: 4 CAD Clients, 2 CAD web clients, 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 10: 4 CAD Clients, 3 CAD web clients, 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS Location 11: 4 CAD Clients, 3 CAD web clients, 4 E911 clients, 1 E911 Admin WS |
| 6 | Sources Sought | Has an approved Windows 10 image been approved for these systems? If not, does it need to be developed as part of this effort? | A Windows 10 image has been created and approved for this design. MCEDS 1.0.6.0 (Win 10 1809) is the current approved version and will be provided by the Government. |
| 7 | Sources Sought | Are there any clearance or IA requirements for engineers and technicians working on the Windows 10 Baseline System Upgrade effort? | Yes. IT Level II and IT Level III will be required with the associated background investigations and training requirements. |
| 8 | Sources Sought | Do replacement hardware devices require an Asset Tag to be affixed to the system? | Yes. Standard Item Unique identification (IUID) practices will be used and the Government IUID Plan will be provided as GFI. |
| 9 | Sources Sought | The 4 existing servers (911, Syslog, NTP, MediaStar Recorder) are they currently running on a virtual platform? If so, what platform? | The E911 servers are not virtualized at this time. However, the Government is considering virtualizing the SYSLOG server onto one of the physical CAD servers |
| 10 | Sources Sought | What OS are those servers running? | The approved design will use Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Std Ed. and Microsoft SQL Server Ent. Ed. |
| 11 | Sources Sought | How much storage is required for those servers? | E911 servers of this type (R740) are required to have 32 GB of memory. |
| 12 | Sources Sought | The servers on the ICAD environment are they running a VDI solution? If so, what is the solution(s)? | The CERS i/CAD Windows 10 design does not use Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. Thin Clients are being replaced with standard clients. |
| 13 | Sources Sought | How much storage is required for those servers? | 256 GB of memory per DL360 Gen 9 8SFF CTO CAD is required for this type of server. |
| 14 | Sources Sought | Where is the Government-contracted System Integration Laboratory referenced in the RFI located? | The Government-contracted System Integration Laboratory is scheduled to be located on a military base in Charleston, SC. |
| 15 | Sources Sought | What activities would occur at the Government-contracted System Laboratory? | Contractor will be required to ship equipment to the location above as well as access this site in order to complete the build and test activities. |
