Hazardous Materials Storage Buildings SPECIFICATIONS
Request for Quotation August 13, 2015 Provide a cost estimate to fabricate hazardous material (Haz-Mat) storage Lockers in accordance with the specifications listed below. Please provide estimate for each type of locker separately on your proposal.
General:
Haz-Mat storage lockers will be utilized to store pallets of paints, lubricants, and other flammable materials. Some items will be stored in 55 Gallon drums on pallets inside the lockers.
The standard pallet size will be 48”x 48”.
Type 1:
Haz-Mat Locker for palletized items

The Haz-Mat locker for palletized items (Type 1) must comply with the following specifications:
1. 2-Hour Fire Rated to include insulated walls and roof.
2. Pallet shelf, with grating, for double stacking. Rated at 250 lbs./sf. (See example 1)
3. One Fire Suppression System. The suppression system must be mounted on the back of the container. (Similar to the design shown in example 4)
4. One loading ramp.
5. Must Comply with IFC, IBC, EPA, NFPA, and OSHA codes and regulations.
6. All materials will be new and unused. Non‐commercial grades ASTM A-570 and commercial grades ASTM A-500, ASTM A-569, and ASTM A-36 steel are acceptable.
7. 12‐ and 14‐gauge welded steel construction. Sump built of 10‐gauge steel.
8. Spark arrested gravity screen vents with fire damper and back draft damper.
9. Spill containment drain, 4 “above the ground, on all units to allow drainage.
10. 4 ea. 56” wide doors, 2-hour fire rated, 3 point locking system. (See example 1)
11. Non‐sparking aluminum grated flooring. (Rated at 500 lbs./sf)
12. Unit designed to be portable by forklift, with front loading capacity (with forklift pockets).
13. Seismic tie‐down holes are 1” diameter.
14. All units will have 3/8” grounding lugs with 6 ft. long grounding cable, set at 30” high.
15. Unit will be coated with a coating system for harsh marine conditions including wind, salt, humidity, temperature extremes, etc. The coating system must be a virtually indestructible coating system for Chemical/Haz-Mat/Haz-Waste steel buildings and be blast resistant to alleviate concerns of chemical storage. It cannot RUST OR CORRODE” and unlike paint, it must be “No Maintenance Required”. It must be airtight, watertight and extremely flexible; providing tough and permanent protection against the formation of rust and corrosion. Must include a 10 year coating warranty.
16. Unit must include a 10 year warranty on structure.
17. Unit must include NFPA and DOT signs.
18. Estimate is to include shipping to Blount Island Command in Jacksonville, Florida Note: Container design shown in example 1 is preferred.
Type 2 Haz-Mat Locker for Palletized Items

The Haz-Mat locker for palletized items (Type 2) must comply with the following specifications:

Type 3 Walk-In Haz-Mat Locker

The Walk-In Haz-Mat locker must comply with the following specifications:
1. 2-Hour Fire Rated to include insulated walls and roof.
2. One 4’ two bulb solar powered explosion proof LED light.
3. One Fire Suppression System. The suppression system must be mounted on the back of the container. (Similar to the design shown in example 4)
4. One loading ramp.
5. Four rows of adjustable shelving along the back wall, side walls, and front wall between the doors. The shelving is 18 inches deep and uses ¾” threaded rod suspended from overhead for placing in desired location. Each back shelf is to be 6’ 6” long with 12” between shelves. Each shelf must have load limit label. See examples 2, 3, and 5.
