Minimum Technical Requirements
JT9D-7J Engine Procurement

B747-SP Engine Technical Requirements
1.0 Specifications (Supporting documentation to be submitted with proposal)
1.1 Provide at least one JT9D-7J engine that is fully assembled, preserved, CANNED and/or crated meeting a minimum of:
1.1.1 2,500 cycles remaining
1.1.2 30,000 hrs. remaining
1.1.3 A Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Margin of 20°C at Take Off (T.O.)
(or lower based on test conditions)
1.2 Provide copies of all:
1.2.1 associated documents for each engine, including previous repairs from original manufactured date
1.2.2 previous documented repairs and incorporated engineering directives
1.2.3 Service Bulletins (SB’s) and Airworthiness Directives (AD’s) applicable to each engine
1.3 All engines shall have a full QEC for a B747-SP
1.4 Provide NASA a detailed Life Limited Parts (LLP) list for each JT9D-7J engine
1.5 Provide records of individual components internal and external of each engine from
OEM date.
1.6 Provide a detailed summary of all incorporated AD’s / SB’s
1.7 Provide all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required documentation for aircraft engine airworthiness. Provide the FAA Form 8130-3 airworthiness certificate for each major assembly
1.8 Provide all required engineering and performance data
1.9 Data Package:
1.9.1 Life Limited Parts (LLP) List
1.9.2 FAA 8130-3 for each major assembly
1.9.3 List of all Airworthiness Directives Embodied
1.9.4 List of all Service Bulletins Embodied
1.9.5 List of all Service Letters Embodied
1.9.6 Submittals to P &W Response from P&W (if applicable)
1.9.7 5 Year Warranty from Delivery
1.9.8 LLP Report Signed by Last Operator
1.9.9 Historical Repair Records
Non-Incident Statement Signed by Last Operator
2.0 Deliverables (To be provided two weeks after award)
2.1 Provide NASA with 1 or 2 JT9D-7J engines with Zero time since
Repair/Overhaul/Extensive Inspection.
3.0 Performance / Qualifications
3.1 Certified FAA 145 Repair Station with current Gas Turbine Powerplant rating
3.2 Higher Level QA System Requirements (e.g. ISO9001 or AS9001)
4.0 Schedule
4.1 Deliver within 2 weeks of contract award
5.0 Safety and Quality Assurance
5.1 Shipment to NASA in Palmdale California by air-ride equipped trailer required
5.2 The following quality documents apply to this SOW and can be supplied upon request (if not included with contract): Q-1A, Q-1C, Q-1E, Q-9
