SUMMARY OF WORK

1.1 SUMMARY

A. Work for this project consists of stabilizing the Bessey Nursery Pump House using Push Piers or equivalent, to prevent the building from moving. There are 3 existing waterlines that run out the south and east side of the building along with electrical lines.

1. All 3 waterlines and electrical line will need to be located by contractor. If the lines are broken or damaged it is the responsibility of the contractor to repair them.

2. Anytime after January 20th the water system will be in use and if damaged will need to be repaired within 48 house.

1.2 LOCATION

A. This project is located on the Bessey Nursery Complex on the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands located two (2) miles west of Halsey, Nebraska.

1.3 GENERAL SITE CONDITIONS AND WEATHER

A. The Nursery buildings lie within the Bessey Nursery Complex. Both are accessible by gravel roads.

B. Weather conditions for the Sandhills region of Nebraska: Summers can be hot with temperatures reaching into the 90’s. The winters can be cold (0 degrees) with snow cover. Rainfall occurs primarily between March through July.

1.4 USE OF PREMISES

A. General: Contractor shall have full use of premises for construction operations, including use of Project site, during construction period. Contractor's use of premises is limited only by the Government's right to perform work.

B. Contractor shall at all times conduct his operations to ensure the least inconvenience to the employees.

C. Confine storage of materials to areas as approved by the Contracting Officer (CO) and coordinated with the Nursery Manager.

D. Contractor shall minimize disturbance of all undisturbed areas.

E. Existing Utilities: Notify CO and utility companies of proposed locations and times for construction, if necessary.

1. Contractor shall be responsible for locating and preventing damage to known utilities. If damage occurs, repair utility at no additional expense to the Government.

2. Interruption of Existing Utility Service: Notify CO 48 hours in advance of any interruption of existing utilities.

1.5 MEALS AND LODGING

A. Meals and lodging are commercially available in the Town of Thedford (15 miles) and the Village of Halsey (2 miles). Meals or lodging will not be available at Forest Service facilities.

1.6 CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE

A. The construction sequence or season for this project shall be approved by the CO and coordinated with the Nursery Manager.

B. Depending on conditions, normal fire restrictions may apply to activities associated with this project. The water system is used to fight fire and may need to be active during work.

A. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to field verify all new and existing dimensions affecting the work of this contract before ordering products.
