Commodity Item Description for the P20-022 Nitric Acid IDIQ

The Government requires a three year (Three year Base Ordering Period) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contract for Nitric Acid. In order to meet the Government's requirement the Nitric Acid must be in accordance with the items stated below:

1. QUALIFIED PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

a) Nitric acid, technical grade or better

b) 42 Be (No one tests for this anymore)

c) 61.0 to 68.2% w/w

d) Appearance - Pour approximately 25 milliliters (ml) of the thoroughly mixed nitric acid specimen into a clean, dry test tube, allow to stand for 10 minutes, then examine visually for sediment, suspended matter, and separated material.

The nitric acid specimen shall be free from sediment, suspended matter, and separated material.

e) H2SO4 max 0.5%

f) Chloride max 0.5%

2. In additions the following capabilities must be able to be met.

a) Product must arrive on location within 30 days After Receipt of Order and with a minimum manufacture’s shelf life of 85%.

b) Shipments will be of 55 gallon drums (drums to be cleaned and supplied by Government)

c) Contractor shall pick up empty containers within ten (10) business days from award of Contract and maintain empty containers on site to be used for deliveries.

d) Shipments greater than 1000 gallons can be sent by tanker truck if approved on awarded order.

e) A current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) shall be submitted at time of proposal. The SDS shall be updated as a new one is released by the manufacturer.

f) The Contractor shall submit an updated SDS for approval if the brand of chemical is changed or any part of the SDS changes.

3. Contract Quantities

• Initial Minimum order: 3,250 gallons

• Average annual usage: 3,500 gallons

• Maximum Contract quantity: 24,000 gallons
