DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
OKLAHOMA CITY AIR LOGISTICS COMPLEX
TINKER AIR FORCE BASE OKLAHOMA
3 March 2020
MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Item Description, A20-012ADV B-52 Stands and Stairs
Reference: AIF, 56520-8
1. The 565th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (565th AMXS) is requesting utilization of funds for the purchase of Connect Stands and Crown Stands and Stairs to silhouette B-52 aircraft in building 2121.
2. The requested equipment item descriptions/specifications are outlined below.
a. Connect Stand with Guardrails
1. Quantity: One (1) Set, Each set shall contain One (1) Left and One (1) Right.
2. Shall Conform to OSHA 1910 Subpart D and designed to ANSI/ASSE Z359.1.
3. Shall be designed to match current stands located at Tinker AFB in B2121.
4. Shall sit on and be secured to current nose stands already in place.
5. Shall have a max working load of 1,200 pounds.
6. Base Dimensions: 96 in (H) x 181 in (L) x 48 in (W).
7. Top Platform Dimensions: 228 in (L) x 52 in (W)
8. Shall include contoured sliders with rubber bumpers flush to jet. Sliders shall be attached to the stand sliders on the edge where it comes into contact with the aircraft.

9. Shall include removable heavy duty polyurethane casters on the bottom of the stand with total lock. Casters shall be bolted to mount plate. Mount plate shall be bolted to the bottom of the stands. This will allow the stands to be moved on the ground, then unfasten them from stands when assembling onto nose stands. Mount plate shall be designed with minimal fasteners required, so mechanics can readily install/remove them.
10. Shall include guardrail pockets in FWD (forward), OUTBD (side) and AFT (back) of each stand.
OC-ALC OBCA
SUBJECT: Item Description, A20-0012ADV B-52 Stands and Stairs
11. Stand guardrails shall be aluminum; over fuselage guardrails shall be aluminum.
12. Shall be primed and painted not powder coated, industry standard yellow/white to match existing stands.
13. Slider/deck structural material and type must be aluminum to match existing stands.
14. Shall include forklift pockets located underneath the stand platform on the Center of
Gravity, based on design analysis. (See attached document for reference.)
15. Shall include lifting anchors for sling hoisting. Lifting anchors to be located on the stand platform on 3 separate locations appropriate for sling attachment and lifting. These locations will depend on the design’s Center of Gravity.
16. Shall include latching system for attaching Connect Stands to Stairs, Crown Stand and Nose Stand via heavy duty toggle clamps.
17. Shall provide an eDrawing or 3-D PDF file for CAD model viewing and dimensional analysis. Files shall be provided prior to design reviews to aid in the design review process.
18. Shall provide 75% and Final Design review.
19. Shall provide a fabrication schedule and be on site for the test fit around aircraft.
Also shall be responsible for any modifications required after Test Fit. The government will move and position the new stands for the test fit.
20. Shall provide installation and assembly after delivery.
b. Crown Stands
1. Quantity: Two (2) Sets, Each set shall contain One (1) Left and One (1) Right.
2. Shall conform to OSHA 1910 Subpart D and designed to ANSI/ASSE Z359.1
3. Shall be designed to match current stands located at Tinker AFB in B2121.
4. Shall sit on and be secured to current nose stands already in place.
5. Shall have a max working load of 1,200 pounds.
6. Base Dimensions: 132 in (H) x 132 in (L) x 48 in (W).
7. Top Platform Dimensions: 144 in (L) x 52 in (W).
8. Shall include contoured sliders with rubber bumpers flush to jet. Sliders shall be attached to the stand sliders on the edge where it comes into contact with the aircraft.

2. Stairs shall be modular and removal for ease of setup; shall be designed for method of easy pinning from Connect Stand to Crown Stand.
