SUBJECT: Interim Hazard Classification for CARTRIDGE, HARNESS RELEASE THRUSTER, ACES II, DODIC MD87, NSN 1377016495552ES, P/N 6284200, Log No. H22-140, Request ID 993
Reference: Interim Hazard Classification Log No. H22-140 supersedes Log No. H21-106
1. Subject item will be shipped on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD). Subject item was manufactured by Chemring Energetics Devices (CED). Subject item contains a Dual Bridgewire Initiator (Zirconium Potassium Perchlorate Initiator Charge), an Integral Cartridge (Boron Potassium Nitrate Ignition Charge, and a Hi-Temp Propellant Output Charge). This Interim Hazard Classification (IHC) is valid for one year and will expire on 13-
JUN-2023.
2. The IHC for the subject item is as follows.
DOD Hazard Class/Division/SCG/SG: 1.4C DOT Proper Shipping Name: CARTRIDGES, POWER DEVICE UN Serial Number: UN0276 DOT Label: EXPLOSIVES 1.4C Net Explosive Weight/Item: 0.000503 lbs (0.000228 kg)
Packaging must be in accordance with 49 CFR 173.62, Packing Instruction 134, dated 1-Oct-2021.
3. This Interim Hazard Classification is issued in accordance with T.O. 11A-1-47, as authorized by reference DOT Special Permit (SP) 15448. This Interim Hazard Classification is valid for one year from the date of this letter. A copy of this letter and the Special Permit must be carried aboard each conveyance transporting the subject item. A copy of SP 15448 can be found at:

4. This IHC does not relieve the shipper from complying with all other hazardous material requirements of 49 CFR.
