Question 1:

If the government elects to store the oil as per paragraph 3.1.10, is the stored oil to be used to accomplish the system flushing identified in paragraph 3.2.5? If not, is the contractor to procure and install new oil for flushing of the system?

Answer: The contractor is to remove and dispose of the old oil and renew the oil.

Question 2:

Paragraph 3.2.5.3 states “Drain and retain the flushing fluid for reuse (see 3.10 (System refilling)). Paragraph 3.10 does not exist in the work item as written. Is the system fluid to be drained and retained after completion of the system flush identified in paragraph 3.2.5?

Answer: The contractor is to drain and retain the flushing fluid and reuse. Contractor to follow 3.2.6 in lieu of 3.10.

Question 3:

Paragraph 3.2.6 requires the contractor to re-fill the system with CPP system with oil. Is the contractor to refill the system with the hydraulic fluid retained in paragraph 3.2.5.3 or is the contractor to provide and install a total of 400 gallons of new oil?

Answer: Contractor is to reuse the oil that was used to flush after testing of oil is sat.

Question 4:

Paragraph 3.2.1.1 directs the contractor to retain all anode mounting hardware. Paragraph 3.2.2 directs the contractor to renew up to 100% of mounting hardware. Is the contractor to reinstall existing mounting hardware found satisfactory for reuse and procure/install new mounting hardware in place of existing mounting hardware found unsatisfactory for reuse?

Answer: After inspection of all components in 3.2.1.1 submit CFR as stated in 3.2.1.3.

Question 5:

SFLC Standard Specification 8635 paragraph 3.3.7.1 does not identify the normal operating pressure (psig) and volume (cfm) for WMEC-210B. What is the normal operating pressure (psig) and volume (cfm) for WMEC-210B?

Answer: Compressed air - 30 psig.

Question 6:

Paragraph 3.2, Table 1, Subparagraph 3.3.8 identifies that there is not a requirement for Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste Disposal. Table 2 and Table 3 have materials listed for disposal. Is the contractor required to manage and dispose of the materials identified in Table 2 and Table 3?

Answer: That should have been marked "yes" for the table since there is associated disposal stated in the table.

Question 7:

Paragraph 3.2, Table 1, Subparagraph 3.3.12 identifies the requirement for contractor to furnish a dumpster for Ship’s force use but does not identify the size/volume of the required dumpster. What size dumpster is required for Ship’s Force use?

Answer: A standard dumpster will suffice.

Question 8:

Paragraph 3.3 requires renewal of “… approximately 6 square feet of steel bulkhead and deck plating…” Is the requirement a total of 6 square feet (between both locations) or a total of 12 square feet (approximately 6 square feet at each location)?

Answer: There is "only" six (6) square feet of steel to be replaced until such time there is a CFR submitted to indicate this is additional steel to be replaced due to a more detailed inspection.

Question 9:

We are looking for the LCG, Trim and MT1” date. This is usually supplied in the Availability document in 3.4 Cutter conditions, Full Load Condition.

Answer: The current spec indicated the LCG as per table. The cutter will moor to facility and the trim will be recorded, then the shipyard will supply a docking plan to the Coast Guard for review and approval.
