Statement of Work (SOW) Naval Special Warfare Command Tactical Breaching Torch System Order
1.0 OBJECTIVE: Part listed is required for NSW Breachers. LOGSU-2 is responsible for ordering and maintaining this item. It is being requested to fulfill a need identified by NSW Breachers.
1.1 Background: The tactical breaching torch system is a replacement for the Grim Breacher exothermic as Grim Breacher Company has gone out of business and torch system bottles are reaching the end of their service life. The units are to be maintained and inventoried by the engineering department.
2.0 DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT:
NSW requires a lightweight, portable exothermic cutting torch system that enables rapid, effective cutting of various structures, doors, hatches, and fittings to permit entry to buildings, industrial structures, shipboard spaces, etc. The entire system must be packaged in a single, durable, padded backpack and be as small, lightweight, and compact as possible to enable rapid transition from various mobility platforms to the breaching target and employ a single oxygen bottle configuration that will not produce sparks if shot with a bullet. The cutting component must employ a pistol-grip style handle and enable rapid change out of cutting rods and also enable the use of industry standard Keri cutting cable. The cutting component must be easily and rapidly ignited with a reliable, compact, reusable ignition system.
Specifications:
System Weight: Less than 25 lbs Oxygen capacity: minimum 1150L @ 3000 PSI Ignition system: Less than 2 ounces Ignition system: Minimum 10 ignitions on a single power source or battery Cutting component: Enables use of exothermic/ultrathermic cutting rods and adjustable length Kerie cable Cutting performance: 1:1 rod length to cut length of ¼” steel
