21 DEC Site visit Questions and Answers:
Q1. Vendor question: Are you envisioning drain lines coming off of this?
A1. Discussion: Vendor continued to describe 2 possible lines, 1 from the freezer portion, 1 from the refrigeration section. Possible drain just out to the open. Condensate drain(s) issues considered minor as to how and where. One possibility was to tap into the nearby down spout of the building.
Q2. Vendor question: Where do you want the box to start?
A2. Discussion: Dimensions prescribed from the specification sheet (16'x8') were used and laid out along the desired area. Area of placement was observed to be sufficient for the dimensions of unit desired. Electrician remarked that unit is preferred 24" away from the building to allow adequate access for installation and maintenance of electrical.
Q3. Vendor question: What electrical is required?
A3. State Food Program Manager reiterated that electrical requirements are the responsibility of the vendor up to the point where the customer would make contact with the pre-existing wall connections of the building.
Q4. State Food Program Manager question: How long would it take to get the electrical hooked up.
A4. Electrician estimated about 1 day. States that if the condensers are close to the ground, would need steel conduit per regulations. Stated that it would take just a phone call to get him out to work on it...otherwise go through usual channels to request.
Q5. State Food Program Manager reiterates importance of the capability of freezer to reach a desired -20 degrees F.
A5. One vendor states that it freezer should reach -20 degrees F easily if there is a floor built in. Structure that is built with only walls and roof over the existing concrete dock area would probably reach -10 degrees F.
Q6. (After a tour of existing unit outside of Bldg. 34) Are we eliminating the capsule pack?
A6. State Food Program Manager states that it is not. Whatever configuration and location of condensers and whether the unit was prebuilt and shipped or built on site would be up to the vendor as long as unit achieved desired temperature and met the door location and ramp access requirements stated.
Q7. Question: What is the desired timeframe?
A7. Answer: Desired range of completion is preferably by end of January 2017. Into February is okay.
