Questions and Answers: FDA-SOL-1146762
1.) The request lists one of the requirements as the ability to measure Cigarette Filler Weight. My question is what exactly that means. We are assuming this is the weight of tobacco in the cigarette. Is this correct?
Yes. The filler weight is the weight of the tobacco contained in the cigarette.
2.) The solicitation references filter tips to be measured. Can you clarify the required size range on the tips?
Since we do not have experience manufacturing cigarettes, we do not have a specification for the range. We would expect the range to cover a reasonable range of standard cigarettes (for example 3R4F, 1R5F, and CM6 reference cigarettes) and IF possible, little cigars that are close in design to cigarettes. We also realize that the instrument cannot cover all possible ranges for marketed cigarettes. If there are optional attachments to accommodate products outside of the range of standard cigarettes, please include part numbers and pricing on these attachments.
