QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS #2-Ventilated Cage Racks for Animal Facility

SOLICITATION NUMER #FDA-15-1146420

QUESTION 01

Please confirm wire bar lid/ hanging feeder design for the RAT CAGE set up (Does the feeder cover 1/2 the cage bottom or FULL feeder covering entire cage bottom?)

ANSWER 01

Question is unclear (full wire bar lid?). Cages must have a suspended feeder (tray or integral with wire bar lid) adequate to provide food for mice or rats and resist chewing damage. The filter top must continually prevent the escape of mice and rats, either by itself or in conjunction with a wire bar/metal lid to prevent chew through.

QUESTION 02

Please confirm Auto Water AND Bottled Watering are both required.

ANSWER 02

Yes, cages/racks should be equipped with auto water valve and water bottle holder to allow for auto water or water bottle use.

QUESTION 03

Please confirm which auto water valves are required to go into each cage (removable valves or fixed?)

ANSWER 03

Prefer removable, external valves (rack mounted, not cage mounted); will consider fixed valves if significantly less expensive
