Caterpillar Generator Specifications Arnold Engineering and Development Complex (AEDC)

• This generator will be used as a standby unit to provide emergency power
- Engine Model: C15 Air-to-Air After Cooled, I-6, 4-Stroke Water-Cooled Diesel
- Fuel Type: Diesel
- Open unit (no enclosure)
- Fuel tank shall be able to run three hours on 100% load
• Size of fuel tank should be compatible with three hour runtime at 100% load
• A 24Hr fuel tank is not required
- No winding heaters
- Generator will not be in a seismic zone
- Shall include battery charger
- Shall include block heaters
- Shall include the following accessories:
• Exhaust Silencer: Residential type silencer, with muffler companion flanges and flexible stainless steel exhaust fitting, sized in accordance with engine manufacturer's instructions.
• Battery Tray: Treated for electrolyte resistance, constructed to contain spillage.
• Battery Charger: Current limiting type designed to float at 2.17 volts for each cell and equalize at 2.33 volts for each cell. Furnish overload protection, full wave rectifier, DC voltmeter and ammeter, and 120 volts AC fused input. Furnish wall mounted enclosure to meet NEMA 250, Type 1 requirements.
• Line Circuit Breaker: UL 489, molded case circuit breaker on generator output with integral thermal and instantaneous magnetic trip in each pole. Furnish battery voltage operated shunt trip, connected to open circuit breaker on engine failure.

• Load Bank Circuit breaker: , molded case circuit breaker on generator output with integral thermal and instantaneous magnetic trip in each pole. Furnish battery voltage operated shunt trip, connection to open circuit breaker on Transfer switch operation input. Unit mount in enclosure to meet NEMA 250,
• Engine-Generator Control Panel: NEMA 250, Type 1 Generator- mounted control panel enclosure with engine and generator controls and indicators. Furnish provision for padlock and the following equipment and features:
• Frequency Meter: 45-65 Hz. range.
• AC Output Voltmeter: 2 percent accuracy, with phase selector switch.
• AC Output Ammeter: 2 percent accuracy, with phase selector switch.
• Output voltage adjustment.
• Push-to-test indicator lamps, one each for low oil pressure, high water temperature, overspeed, and overcrank.
• Engine start/stop selector switch.
• Engine running time meter.
• Oil pressure gage.
• Water temperature gage.
• Auxiliary Relay: 3PDT, operates when engine runs, with contact terminals prewired to terminal strip.
• Additional visual indicators and alarms in accordance with by
NFPA 110.
• Remote Alarm Contacts: Factory wire SPDT contacts to terminal strip for remote alarm functions in accordance with NFPA 110.
• Remote Annunciator Panel: Mounted on generator. Furnish audible and visible indicators and alarms in accordance with
NFPA 110.
• High battery voltage (alarm).

Unloading: Contractor shall offload the generator
Startup and Commissioning: Shall be completed by a Caterpillar Factory Technician. The Caterpillar Factory Technician shall be able to gain access to Arnold AFB. Base access is granted through the Arnold AFB visitor’s center, and advance planning is required.
Delivery Timeframe: No later than 135 days after receipt of order (DARO)
Startup and Commisioning Timeframe: Shall be completed after delivery, and no later than 165 days after receipt of order (DARO). Startup and commisioning date(s) shall be coordinated with Arnold AFB Project Manager. Project Manager POC will be provided at time of award.
