FA9101-20-Q-0023 ANSWERS TO RFI’S 3/9/2020

(Q1) 2.5 degree indexing head. Is this a firm requirement? We use Renishaw PH10 heads which have a 7.5 degree increment. For 99.99% of customers this works. I can add some adjustable knuckles on the styli if you would like a little more flexibility. Renishaw doesn’t make a smaller tooth because they found through years of testing that the smaller teeth have a tendency to wear out and lose accuracy.

(A)The 2.5 degree head is standard with the Zeiss machine listed in the specification. Our understanding is Renishaw heads will not work with the Calypso software or on Zeiss machines.

(Q2) Calypso software. Is this the only software you will accept? We have a variety of offerings, unlike most manufacturers. We offer CAMIO, CMM Manager, Polyworks, and several others. If you’re open to other software solutions, I would like to have a quick phone call later today to discuss what you’re looking for so that I can suggest the right solution.

(A)Calypso software is required and is the only software we will accept.

(Q3) Measuring Volume. The size specified looked a little abnormal. Does the room size limit the Z height or width/length? We can certainly make the size specified, but we have stock machines that may be a little larger.

(A)We would accept the next larger “stock” size machine. The X, Y and Z define the desired working envelope, a “little larger” is acceptable. As far “room size” the floor space and head room limits are 10’ wide by 12’ long by 12.5’ high, (3050mm W x 3650mm L x 3810 H), which is the total envelop including O&M access. The machine specified is much smaller than these “room” limits.
