Answer to RFI- 7.30.2019: Expansion Joints Question What is the allowable minimum thickness of the pipe?
Answer The pipe thickness can be thinner than the ASME B31.3 calculated value if it is reinforced properly; however, we wanted to set a lower limit on what was acceptable. If there is no significant reinforcement, then the value of B31.3 min pipe calc would be required.
