Eglin AFB, FL Questions/Answers Set 3 3 May 2021
Questions/Responses (In Bold Red):
1. 1 other thing I’m not seeing is the check list – are you requiring that for this proposal?
Or am I missing it?
Yes, a checklist is required and listed under attachment. There has been a 24 hour extension on the deadline to accommodate time to complete.
2. Rack Supported Mezzanine:
7’ top of deck height and 6’9” clear underneath as specified in Appendix A
a. CONCERN: IBC standards require AT LEAST 7’ of clearance below the clear height, and above the top of deck for means of egress.
b. PROPOSED SOLUTION: Height to top of deck should be changed to 9’ or 10’ to allow room for sprinkler system and lighting and still adhere to IBC standards. This is what is regularly seen in industry.
The staircase w/ landing are shown to fit within a small footprint
a. CONCERN: To reach the 7’ top of deck, the stairs (not including the landing) would need to have a horizontal span of about 10’6”
b. PROPOSED SOLUTION: Staircase will require an intermediate landing, along with a landing at the top of the steps, to not protrude into the aisle way
THE MEZZANINE SPECIFIED IS NOT A RACK SUPPORTED MEZZANINE. PER APPENDIX A,
PARA 3.2.1.4. DIMENSION AND CLEAR HEIGHT - THE MEZZANINE SHALL BE A NOMINAL 31’-0”
WIDE X 30’-0” DEEP. THE MEZZANINE SHALL HAVE A NOMINAL CLEAR HEIGHT OF 9’
UNDERNEATH ALL COMPONENTS OF THE MEZZANINE. THE TOP OF THE DECKING SHALL BE A
MAXIMUM OF 10’-6” ABOVE THE EXISTING FLOOR. UNCLEAR AS TO REFERENCE OF 7’ TOP OF
DECK.
3. Also, what is the ceiling clear height in building 220?
THE PROJECT IS FOR BLDG 1420. UNSURE OF REFERENCE TO BUILDING 220.
