Questions Set 2 – 24 Sept 18

Question 1: In regard to the mobile storage system proposed for the vault- 30”w x 48”d – closed, clip type shelving with 1000# / shelf capacity is not an industry standard, and I can find no one that has tooling to make it as spec’d. Will you accept a different type of shelving for the mobile system such as rivet?

Answer: The capacity of the bin shelving and mobile aisle system have been updated to 400 pounds/shelf and 1000 pounds per carriage foot. These updates should alleviate any of the manufacturer concerns.

Question 2: In regard to the mobile storage system proposed for the vault - Spec with raised floor would not be recommended for use with an electric lift with a 1000# load on it (based on the shelf spec). Raised floors are designed for foot traffic or at the most a light duty push cart with a light load. We would recommend imbedding the rails into the (assumed) concrete floor so that the concrete floor would be supporting the lift & load – not a raised floor.

Answer: Raised floor is required due to location of mobile aisle, imbedded rails are not feasible in a weapons vault.

Question 3: In regard to the mobile storage system proposed for the vault - Mobile system industry standard carriages are designed for 1000# per carriage foot. The suggested load requirement per these specs would require a minimum of 1600# per carriage foot. As the spec is written we do not believe there is a manufacturer that can meet this spec. including Spacesaver and PER Spacesaver for the requested type of system.

Answer: The capacity of the mobile aisle has been updated to 1000 pounds per square foot.

Question 4: In regard to the mobile storage system proposed for the vault - RE: the lock – design as spec’s does not fully lock the system – there will be (1) carriage face of shelving open at all times.

Answer: The stationary cabinet shall be a movable single sided carriage to allow the entire system to be closed and locked. AF Drawing PEL622-03 has been updated to reflect this change.

Question 5: I would like to ask if the engineer would accept 60” wide x 48” deep shelving on the mobile system, rather than 30” wide x 48” deep. Same capacity – same amount of storage.

Answer: This is acceptable.
