About this file
This memorandum provides answers to vendor questions regarding solicitation number FA857123Q0125 for an Accurshear Model #625012. The Air Force Sustainment Center seeks to purchase the specified Accurshear shear model to replace existing equipment. While other high-end shears were mentioned, the memorandum clarifies that only the Canadian-made Accurshear will be considered due to the incumbent maintenance personnel's familiarity and training on that brand. A different shear would require additional maintenance training and costs to stock various repair parts. Approximately 100 mechanics would need retraining if an alternate shear was selected. Questions from vendors are answered directly in this memorandum to ensure all parties have the same procurement information.

MEMORANDUM FOR NOTICE ID: FA857123Q0125
FROM: AFSC/PZIMB
Richard Ray Boulevard, Bldg 301 Robins AFB, GA 31098
SUBJECT: ACCURSHEAR MODEL #625012
1. The purpose of this memorandum is to provide answers to questions submitted by vendors in reference to Notice ID: FA857123Q0125 ACCURSHEAR MODEL #625012.
2. This memorandum ensures that all submitted questions are answered by the government. The referenced questions and answers are posted below.
A) There are number of high end Shears to compete with Accurshear. Is this a replacement of existing same Shear request? Note: The Accurshear is Canadian made.
B) Will they accept a substitute Shear?
The Accurpress Shear is used throughout 402 AMXG. Plant Services does maintenance for the Accurpress Shear and no additional maintenance training is needed for Plant Services. A different Shear would require additional maintenance and operator training. The maintenance personnel save funding and space by only having to stock one set of repair parts. Approximately 100 mechanics will have to be retrained if a different shear is purchased.
