Q&A

Q- 3.4 The tow tractor shall meet applicable 50-state exhaust and evaporative emissions standards in effect at the time of vehicle manufacture.

This makes it sound like the government wants a Tier 4 Final Diesel Engine. – However a Tier 4 engine can’t burn JP8 or Jet –A We think you want a Tier 3 engine and will get an NSE as a result. Please confirm.

A- The referenced requirement came from the published CID, but the Continuation Sheet dated 13Apr2017 supersedes the published CID.

Q- Will the government accept 4 cylinder engine if all other performance criteria are met for drawbar pull and speed?

A- No.

Q- 3.6 Will the government accept a test report conducted on this tractor for another branch of the Armed Services?

A- No.

Q- 3.7 Will the government accept the tractor not going into gear when the parking brake is applied instead of shutting down?

A- Yes, the Continuation Sheet dated 13Apr2017 allows that.

Q- 5.3.7 The test is to move 500,000 lbs. I assume this is for the heavier tractor, is there a benchmark test for the lighter tractor?

A- The test referenced is no longer required, per Continuation Sheet dated 13Apr2017.

Note*

The CID Continuation Sheet states that the “Commercial Item Description A-A-58045B, dated 31 July 6, is amended. Replace the entire specification with the following:”
