Q&A-2
Q. What is the purpose of including the CID in the solicitation, if the CID Continuation, Engineering Data
List supersedes it?
A. The published CID is the official specification document. The Engineering Data List typically supplements or amends the published CID. In this case, the accumulated revisions since the last published CID revision were so numerous that it was easier to state “replace the entire specification with the following”.
Q. Fire extinguisher (3.2.4.3), can a UL rated 20B:C unit be supplied in place of the ULC unit? The
Canadian version has been difficult to source in the past.
A. Yes, the UL rating is acceptable, and its reference is what should be in the Continuation Sheet.
If we are focusing only on the CID Continuation, these questions apply:
Q. Are the units to be painted gloss white (3.2.1.2) or this is only for the pre-production tow tractor
(CLIN 0001)?
A. The exterior finish color of all units shall be the tow tractor manufacturer’s standard commercial color. When specified in 7.2 c., exterior finish color shall be gloss white.
Q. If gloss white, what is the military specification color code?
A. Gloss white shall be a commercial color with no military specification code specified.
Q. Transportability (3.5.1) states the unit shall be air transportable in a C-15 and C-17 without removing ballast, but then in the test methods (5.5.13.1 and .2), it states that the pre-production unit will be tested in a C130 as well. Why is this?
A. The reference to C-130 in 5.5.13.1 and 5.5.13.2 is a mistake. C-130 should not be in those paragraphs.
