Purchase Specification
F‐22 Aircraft Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE)
Heavy Duty Walk‐behind Tug
Background:
AGE equipment can weigh up to 15,000 lbs., Phased Air Operation Cart (PAO), and require motorized towing equipment within the hangar. The movement of AGE equipment within the aircraft hangar is the responsibility of the 309th Aircraft Maintenance Group (AMXG) a Walk‐behind Tug as towing aide is essential. In addition to this, the tug itself must be of the Class I Div. I (type EX) electrical specification due to the explosion hazards that exist within a hangar where combustible materials exits. Below is a suggested design model.

Requirements:
The intended use for this walk‐behind tug is primarily within the confines of the hangar. However, it may be necessary to use the unit to move or bring other AGE equipment into and out of the hangar for short distances. This will require a limited amount of exposure to the elements (rain, wind, snow). The unit must be single man operated and possess enough versatility to tow multiple types of AGE equipment.
1) Pintle hook tow connection
2) Class I Div I electrical conformance
3) Up to 15,000 lb tow capacity
4) Compact, one man operation
5) Rechargeable charging system to include 24 VDC to 48 VDC battery and charger
6) Compatible with an aircraft hangar environment:
a. Acceptable amounts of exhaust/fumes – AFOSH Standard
b. Sufficient traction on a smooth concrete floor
c. Ability to cross hangar door rails
7) Ability to maneuver in tight spaces
8) Easily and effectively maneuvered and operated by technicians
9) Small footprint for storage and charging
Warranty
Commercial warranty shall be for a minimum of one year after award of contract. Contractor will be solely responsible for all warrantied repairs and cost related to such repairs to included material, labor and transportation per the one year of active warranty. Per expiration of warranty all related upkeep will be the sole responsibility of the government or its representatives.
