PORTABLE 3D COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE (CMM) ARM QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question:

The following line item in the Purchase Description needs more clarity.

“All other software required for turnkey use of portable CMM.”

This statement could literally translate to anywhere from an additional $5K to $20K of software. We need this statement to be more specific.

Response:

If there are any other software packages that are needed to operate the PCMM other than GeoMagic we need to have that license included. The term Turnkey is intended to express the need to include everything needed to begin using this device. Our current lab has no CMM’s or basis to begin from, so everything we need to operate this machine for efforts surrounding reverse engineering need to come included in this quote.

Question:

The solicitation explicitly calls out for onsite hardware training, but nothing about software training. Are the end users already trained in the GeoMagic suite and that is not necessary for this bid? If they do need software training, shall that be onsite or off.

Response:

All personnel in the group have been trained in GeoMagic. We do not need additional training in GeoMagic. If there is additional software that is required to use the equipment we’ll need this training to be completed onsite. Most reasonably it would occur along with the hardware training.
