Questions and Answers concerning FA8224-17-R-0028 Sources Sought Posting

Question:

Do the products have to be an exact match or can they cross to another manufacture

Answer:

1. The products have to be an exact match: The MIL-SPEC number may be the same, even though the color is specified by FED-STD 595 you can get color variations between manufacturers.

2. Some manufactures are interchangeable, but then you start getting Deviation in Tints/Shades.

Meaning that if the aircraft has already been painted/started with a certain brand, then it has to continue with that brand, or cause the whole aircraft part to be re-painted because the colors/shades are different enough to look like different colors of paint.

3. Our paint proportioning systems have machines that are calibrated for specific catalyst, bases, and solvents. You can't change products and expect the equipment to work without thoroughly cleaning the equipment and recalibrating.
