Acoustical Baffles

FA8126-11-Q-0263

Q & A

1. Please verify statement of work document 1.2.3 allows us to hang panels from joists/beams verses “ceiling.”

Ans: Please reference Appendix A on page 8 for acoustical baffle material coverage locations. The government calls it "Ceiling Truss" (joints/beams or horizontal building structure). The ceiling trusses have been shown to contractors in the site visit. Also, roof bottom mounted (from Q-20 to Q-40) is also shown to the contractors in the visit.

2. Please verify that panels are to be joined together with "Velcro."

Ans: Contractor is allowed to use Velcro tapes or equivalent only for item No.6, page 8, Appendix A of the Statement of Work.

3. Please verify the exact mounting points for #9 in appendix A.

During the job walk there was a discussion about items obstructing the panels if hung from the ceiling joists.

Ans: Regarding #9, page 8, Appendix A, the mounting point is the ceiling truss (joints/beams or horizontal building structure located below several electrical conduit, plumbing.)

4.Please clarify in regard to the appendix that we are to hang panels to "beams" at the ceiling near the fire wall (Q line R-20 to R-40) so as to cover the fire wall.

Ans: Regarding #10, page 8, Appendix A, the mounting points are from the roof bottom or the actual building ceiling (mounting points are approximately 3" or 4" from the building ceiling).

5. Please clarify the number of transformers, their locations and how exactly the government wants the panels to hang at these locations.

Ans: There are 11 transformers and 1 electrical box in the project locations.

They are located at posts P-34, M-32, M-28, P-26, M-24, P-22, M-21, J-27, J-31, M-33, H-35 and J-37. The contractor shall offset 12" around the transformer to mount the panels.
