About this file

This document contains a federal contract solicitation and related questions and answers file. The solicitation requests quotes by a specified closing date for the procurement of five hydraulic fluid test stand mules on a 100% small business set aside basis. The required mules are portable, electric driven units to be delivered to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. The questions and answers file provides additional technical details on the hydraulic performance measurements required, clarifying that while the center system requires 50 gallons per minute at 3,000 pounds per square inch, the pressure may drop as low as 200 to 350 psi in some instances, and the customer does not yet own the equipment to provide average operating data.

Question 1:

What is the customer’s average operating performance measurement in 50gpm @3000psi on the KC46 aircraft?

Answer 1:

Since the customer does not own this equipment yet so they cannot give an average operating performance measurement. The best guess at longest time is one hour.

Question 2:

Is the current HPU system ever used “over” 50gpm @3000psi? If so, in what case and for how long?

Answer 2:

There is no foreseen use of this system over 50gpm. The center system requires a GPM of 50gpm and the side systems require 37gpm. The PSI required will mostly be 3000 psi (at the 50gpm) but there are some instances where it will be as low as 200-350psi.

Question 3:

Is the HPU ever used under 50gpm @3000psi? If so, what is that standard performance measurement during the course of “normal” operations?

Answer 3:

The center system requires a GPM of 50gpm and the side systems require 37gpm. The PSI required will mostly be 3000 psi (at the 50gpm) but there are some instances where it will be as low as 200-350psi, however the customer does not own this equipment so yet they cannot give an average operating performance measurement.
