Q&A Solicitation Number: FA8125-18-Q-0054
Hazardous Material Storage Buildings
1) Is there any additional design information available?
All general requirements are detailed in the Item Description document, which is included in the solicitation package. There is no additional design information.
2) Also are you looking for a turnkey solution – i.e. we fabricate and install?
This only pertains to procurement (assembly and delivery of buildings by contractor).
3) Or are these to be delivered to the base and installed by the government?
Yes
4) Can I get more clarification regarding the eyewash on this Solicitation?
Eye wash station has to be connected to a water line. A project that involves installation of a 4”water service line, which will be connected to the main facility water line, for the HAZMAT building fire suppression systems and eye wash stations is underway.
5) Will it be mounted inside or outside the building?
The HAZMAT storage buildings will be situated outside the main facility
6) Can it be a portable 16 gallon eyewash or does it have to be plumbed?
Eye wash station has to be connected to a water line (plumbed)
7) Also, mentioning the HVAC System, I am thinking of 2 heaters and 2 Air Conditioners per building. Is this correct?
Yes, that is correct.
8) Do you have a drawing showing the locations of the accessorizes?
There is no readily available drawing showing the locations of the accessorizes
9) What are the material specifications for the walls and roof?
Exterior Wall Construction: Weatherproof noncombustible construction, with multiple layers of UL Classified fire-resistive gypsum wallboard encased between interior galvannealed steel sheets & exterior welded heavy gauge steel sheets for maximum durability, weather resistance & rigidity. Gypsum wallboard layers are offset with overlapping joints for maximum fire-resistance (or equivalent)
Roof/Ceiling Construction:
Weatherproof noncombustible ceiling membrane construction, same as exterior walls, utilizing interior galvannealed steel sheets & continuously welded heavy gauge steel roof sheets for maximum durability and weather resistance. Roof/ceiling permanently attached to exterior walls (or equivalent)
10) Do the units require floors?
Yes
11) Do the units need to be mobile or can structures be built in place?
The units do not need to be mobile. The units will be situated on concrete pads.
12) What are the HVAC requirements – how many CFM are required in each storage unit?
The volumetric flow rate (in CFM) for each unit shall be based on the following:
Heating System Explosion proof heater and interior mounted thermostats rated for Class I, Groups B, C, and D, Division I hazardous locations. Thermostat to have user adjustable temperature settings from 50° F to 90° F.
Air Conditioning System Explosion proof air conditioner rated for Class I, Groups B, C, and D, Division II hazardous locations. Air conditioning unit to be equipped with one interior thermostat bulb and one exterior temperature controller with user adjustable temperature setting from 70° F to 100° F.
13) Please confirm that both a chemical fire suppression system and a wet suppression system are required.
Yes.
14) What type of construction? (2hr, 4hr, or non-combustible)
Non-combustible construction
15) HVAC requirements?
Heating System
Explosion proof heater and interior mounted thermostats rated for Class I, Groups B, C, and D, Division I hazardous locations.
16) Power requirements?
Load Center, Three Phase (Nema 3R) UL Listed, 208/120V or 240/120V, three-phase load center (NEMA 3R) with circuit breaker(s) and main. All interior electrical components must be rated for Class 1, Division 1
17) Why is there a need for Dry Chemical & Water Sprinkler?
-Water is generally required for Class A fire -Dry Chemical is generally required for Class B & C fires
