Question: Have you considered re-babbitting the bearings and repairing them because it will be much more cost efficient for the Government if repaired?
Answer: All bearings shall be new in accordance with Paragraph 1.2 of the PWS. In addition, Paragraph 1.20 Service Report of the PWS requires proof of using new parts.
Question: Under 1.4.6 “The air rewind work shall be inspected” Could you please clarify what was meant by air rewind work? Preventative Maintenance doesn’t usually call for rewinding. Are you wanting the motors rewound no matter the condition of the windings?
Answer: We are retracting that statement/requirement from the PWS. Please see the revised PWS dated 23 August 2017.
Question: Does the company have to be an EASA Accredited Service Center or will an EASA Active Member be acceptable?
Answer: The company must be an EASA Accredited Service Center and provide documentation of their accreditation per paragraph 1.21 of the PWS.
Question: What are the dimensions and weight of the motors?
Answer: The motors are in an enclosed housing and we are not able to remove them at this time to provide the weight or dimensions. These are commercial off the shelf motors, please check with the Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications to obtain this information.
Question: Will the Government load the motors onto the Contractors truck/trailer for transporting the motors to the Contractors facility?
Answer: Yes, the Government will load the motors onto the Contractors truck/trailer when picking up the motors.
