FA8125-16-R-0002

Feb 1 2016

1. Do you want to convert these three OAU to a glycol system?

2. Do you have a spec on what type, size, and quantity of pumps per unit?

3. What type and size of expansion tank is required?

4. What percentage of glycol do you want?

5. Size and dimension of dog house?

6. What size pipe is coming up through the roof to the glycol system?

7. what size and type of chemical pot feeder do you want?

8. What is the specification on the insulation piping running from the dog house to the unit?

9. What is the weight limit on rolling items across the roof on carts?

10. What size is the I-beams that are requested for the frame that the dog house sets on?

11. Does the dog house require insulation and what type and thickness?

12. What gauge of metal is required for the skin of the dog house?

13. I did not get a good look at the electrical there. Do you know the distance to the nearest panel we could tie into, and what kind of breakers they are?

Government Response

1. The contractor proposed design and installation must meet the PWS requirements. Design specifics to meet these requirements are left to the contractor.

NOTE: A properly designed and installed glycol system that meets all requirements of the PWS would be an acceptable solution, but may not be the only solution.

2. thru 5. See answer #1.

6. 8” pipe supplies chilled water to the coils.

7. and 8. See answer #1.

9. Requirements for roof load limit are determined by Base Civil Engineering. In a past project to replace the coils in these MAUs, authorization was granted to transport the new coils, weighing 583 lbs each, as follows: “Care shall be taken by the mechanical contractor to protect the roofing from any damage during the movement of the old coils from the MUA units to the mechanical room…”. It is reasonable to expect a similar authorization for this project.

10. thru 12. See answer #1.

13. The nearest panels are located on the shop floor below the MAUs. They are Square D panels, being fed 480V, 3 Ph, 60 Hz from an overhead busway. Available free capacity in these panels is currently unknown. The contractor should plan to install additional panels as required.
