SOLICITATION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
SOLICITATION: FA8118-19-R-0008
Question Submitted 4 January 2019:
1. Part number 6-72456 Bearing is NSL (not stock listed). Can you verify the part number and or provide an NSN?
ANSWER: Correct PN: 6-72456, NSN: 1560-00-320-4942
Question Submitted 14 January 2019:
2. How long has the NSN 1680-00-621-0766, PN 5-84049-11, KC135 Flap Assembly Balls Screw components been in service since the last overhaul/replacement.
ANSWER: The government is unable to provide this information to the contractor. There could be an issue that arises and causes a part to fail and need to be repaired in a year or there could be parts that come off the aircraft after having no issues their entire lifetime.
These components don’t have serial numbers that allow them to be individually tracked through their lifetime in order to obtain that type of information. For this reason, It is impossible to give the contractor an accurate estimate on how long the NSN 1680-00-621- 0766 has been in service between overhauls.
Questions Submitted 4 February 2019:
3. Is TAG being directed as the Sole Source for taginite on this contract? Will it be stated in the SOW or contract?
TO 16G2-2-20-3 states in step 7.1 that Tagnite hard anodic coating must be sent to Technology Applications Group and an address is given. There is also the option for these parts to be routed to a facility licensed by Technology Applications Group.
4. Will this be a 2 line item tier 1 (without replacing ball) and tier 2 (replacing ball) repairs?
The solicitation FA8118-19-R-0008 has:
Item 0001: Remanufacture of C-135 Mechanical Transmission without replacement of
Ballscrew
Item 0002: Remanufacture of C-135 Mechanical Transmission with replacement of Ballscrew
5. I understand the tier 1 or 2 is defined by the testing of the ball, but what do we need to prove to the USAF what cost we are selling at tier 1 or 2?
Documentation for the condemnation of the ballscrew should be provided to show which transmission assemblies have the ballscrew replaced and which were re-used.
