FA6675-16-R-0001 Concrete Pads Hangar/ Concrete Fire Lane RFI Q&A #2
Q5. Can the CO estimate when the funds will be available for award?
A5. Funds are not presently available for this contract. When appropriated funds are made available, the contract will be awarded.
Q6. 1.3 Does the government have a pre-determined "Approved" dump site/landfill within the
10-mile radius of NAS JRB as indicated? The scope of work indicates that the soil-vegetation-asphalt can be delivered to the "Approved" dump site/landfill, does the CO know if the
"Approved" dump site/landfill will receive the removed concrete?
A6. The Government recommends the following landfills closest to NAS Fort Worth
JRB, Texas:
Westside Landfill
12280 Camp Bowie West Blvd.
Aledo, TX 76008
Westside Sanitary Landfill
3500 Linkcrest Drive West
Aledo, TX 76008
The Contractor shall contact the landfills listed above for hours of operation and for what type of waste they would accept. Both landfills were recommended by the NAS Fort Worth JRB
Environmental Flight.
Q7. Part 111, Execution 3.1.10 Geotechnical Testing Reports; The solicitation acknowledges that no Geotechnical reports are available for hanger 1643, is it the government's intent for the contractor to provide this service for purposes other than testing of soils and/or concrete compressions?
A7. A Geotechnical Engineering Report is not available; the Contractor shall perform a
Geotechnical survey of both Zones that includes soil sample tests. The standard bore here at NAS Fort Worth JRB is 25 feet in depth and usually consists of six to seven soil samples.
However, most Geotechnical contractors are hitting tan limestone at 15 to 19 foot depths.
Recommend two boring tests for Zone 1 and one boring test for Zone 2.
Q8. Does the government have a standard frequency of testing the soils and/or concrete compressions?
A8. It is recommended that at least four samples of concrete be taken for compression strength. All soil & concrete tests are required for this particular concrete project only and not intended for any other construction project.
Q9. An electrical contractor is concerned about removing and/or altering a power pole that is the property of an electrical company for example. Does a local power company own and control
FA6675-16-R-0001 Concrete Pads Hangar/ Concrete Fire Lane RFI Q&A #2 the electrical distribution on the base, if so will the contractor have the permission to remove and/or alter the system?
A9. The Government owns all the power poles here at NAS Fort Worth JRB, Texas;
therefore, the Contractor will not have to contact another Contractor to alter or work on the power poles.
