1. Will the trees to be removed be marked by the Government?

Answer: Yes, The 914 MSG/CEV will mark the trees.

2. Will there be a utility map provided?

Answer: The Base marks all of utilities. However, the contractor is still required to contact Dig Safe NY 1-800-962-7962 to confirm, although most times they do not come out on base.

3. Does the turf on the track have to be covered in order to have equipment cross?

Answer: The running track surface will need to be protected from the equipment and work.

4. For trees near parking lots will there be coordination to move cars when there is work taking place?

Answer: Excluding vehicles from certain areas, including parking lots, during the project would be managed through 914 MSG/CEV in advance working with the Contractor’s schedule.

5. Will the trees that need to be removed be marked for the contractor who is awarded the project?

Answer: Yes, The 914 MSG/CEV will mark the trees.

6. Will we have access through the gate along Walmore Road so the creek doesn’t have to be crossed?

Answer: Not applicable, the trees in questions have been removed from the requirement

7. Do the trees between Walmore Road and the creek need to be removed? There was some discussion on not removing them at the bid walk.

8. The NY Dig Safety will not mark out lines on this property. Will the Airforce Base be able to provide an accurate utility mark out?

Answer: The Base marks all of utilities. However, the contractor is still required to contact Dig Safe NY 1-800-962-7962 to confirm, although most times they do not come out on base.

9. There is some discussion in the RFP on disposal. I checked with the NYSDEC and was informed that there is only one restriction for the waste tree. We need to deliver within 50 miles of the site. Will this be acceptable? I also spoke with local landfills who are not interested in the waste.

Answer: The revised scope of work describes the handling tree removal for disposal in

Paragraph B.3.

10. In Attachment 3 it shows replacement of dead trees # 419 and 427. In attachment 2 # 427 is listed for removal, # 419 is to in the list. IS the government going to remove tree or will this be the contractors responsibility increasing the number of trees to be removed to 153.

Answer: Tree # 419 has been added to the list for removal.

11. Section B.5.4 state the contractor will provide a guarantee for 1 year. To clarify: the contractor will be responsible for the watering and maintenance of all trees planted during this period.

Answer: Yes: the contractor will be responsible for the watering and maintenance of all trees planted during this period in order to provide the one year guarantee.

12. B.5.1 states trees shall be planted in holes three (3) to five (5) times wider than the diameter of the root ball or spread roots. An average root ball for a 2-1/2 inch tree is approximately 2 feet, making the resulting hole 6-10 feet.

Answer: The excavation width for the new tree plantings as described in the Scope is correct.

13. We need to know if the use of a tree auger can be used for opening the holes.

Answer: A tree augur is acceptable.

14. We did not find the line item for providing the Watering/Warranty period. In additions, we must question the 365 days with the condition of Buffalo, New York’s winters.

Answer: There is not a separate line item for the Watering/Warranty period. Watering is normally applied to the growing season. The contractor will be responsible for the watering and maintenance of all trees planted during this period in order to provide the one year guarantee.

15. We need to have clarification on the time frame as watering is not possible 365 days in this area.

Answer: Watering is normally applied to the growing season. However, the contractor will be responsible for the watering and maintenance of all trees planted during this period in order to provide the one year guarantee of healthy survival.

16. Concerning the trees closest to Walmore Rd. between the creek and the fence. Can these trees be felled over the creek, if need be?

Answer: Not applicable, the trees in questions have been removed from the requirement
