Questions and Answers for RFP # FA6633-23-RA001 St. Paul ARB B745 Premise Wiring

The Statement of Objectives (SOO) defines the requirements for the Contractor to engineer, furnish, install and test (EFI&T) premise wiring within Building 745 at Minneapolis St Paul ARB. Newly installed premise wiring will support Unclassified but Sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), or Phone. And the installation of three network switches, two provided by the contractor one provided by 934 CS.

Question 1. Do all wall locations that are on block walls require a 1” conduit installation from outlet location to above? Approximately 15ft of conduit at each location?

Answer: Yes

Question 2. Can the drawing be updated to show the locations that conduit is required?

Answer: No. Assume all locations require conduit in industrial areas. Obvious office spaces may be placed within new or existing drywall locations or utilize raceway if necessary.

Question 3. Please specify what is required for the new communications room buildout? (1) Lockable cabinet with interior vertical management and (1) TMGB. If any other items associated with the closet build out are desired, please specify.

Answer: (1) Lockable cabinet with interior vertical management and (1) TMGB ß Yes.

a. If any other items associated with the closet build out are desired, please specify: Ladder tray from comm room entry to cabinet entry.

Question 4. Please confirm all concrete block cores that are required will need a firestop sleeve installed? What diameter sleeve is requested?

Answer: That’s going to be variable depending on how many cables are on those particular runs.

a. Sleeve diameter will be variable as well.

Question 5. Please confirm horizontal management is required between devices installed in new cabinet? To include between fiber enclosures, patch panels, switches, etc.

Answer: 1RU horizontal cable managers requested per 1RU patch panels (below) only.

Question 6. Please confirm patch cords are not required at the WAO (work area outlet)? Patch cords of various lengths are to be provided in the new comm closet for all new cables installed?

Answer: a. Vendor is not supplying patch cables to the WAO’s.

b. We are requesting that the comm closet patch cables to only be of one length at seven feet.

Question 7. Please confirm demo of all cabling being replaced is required?

Answer: Yes, see SOO, para 2.4.

Question 8. Please confirm modular patch panels provided are to be fully populated?

Answer: Populate the patch panels to fullest extent possible with exception of last panel. There is no need to populate a patch panel with “empty” jacks.

Question 9. Please confirm the (2) switches that are to be provided are Cisco 3950 48 Port POE?

Answer: Please use following part number; Cisco C9300-48P

Question 10. Is there a brand or model preferred for the full size enclosed cabinet? Do you want a PDU or UPS for the cabinet?

Answer: Simple 7' enclosed 4 post cabinet, able to be secured, vertical cable managers on both side, such as those manufactured by Hoffman/Pentair or whatever they are called today. No PDU or UPS unless specifically stated within SOO.

Question 11. Supply two 48 port POE switches. Please furnish Brand and model number and if any SFP modules or a stacking cable is needed.

Answer: The PoE switches we prefer would be the Cisco 9200 with the 1Gig SFP modules and with stacking cables.

Question 12. Specifies plenum cables. Non-plenum cables are just as good but not allowed in air handling ceilings. Few if any of the cables will be in an air handling space. Do you want all cables to be plenum rated anyway?

Answer: By NEC code, if the cable(s) passed through any air handling space then they must be plenum. This facility has an air handling space within the office/administrative area.

Question 13. How many walls require wall fish and cut in a box for jack?

Answer: Refer to the SOO. Most office area walls are drywall. Cut ins are preferred In office areas, unless unfeasible due to wall composition.

Question 14. How many drops require a raceway with a surface mount box?

Answer: Refer to the SOO. All drops installed in industrial areas will require EMT and surface mounting.

Question 15. Are any of the drops floor mounted?

Answer: NO

Question 16. Can metallic raceway be used instead of conduit?

Answer: No, not in industrial areas.

Question 17. Approximately how many walls are drywall?

Answer: Refer to SOO. Most office area walls are drywall

Question 18. Approximately how many walls are concrete, hard?

Answer: Refer to SOO. Industrial areas are block walls.

Question 19. Is there a cable tray, or existing cable routes?

Answer: You should plan on developing your own cable pathways.

Question 20. Will a lift be required for high ceilings? or running cable in rafters?

Answer: Beam height, in industrial areas is 20+ feet. We cannot mandate the type of equipment you use to get there.

Question 21. Are sub-contractors allowed?

Answer: Yes.

Question 22. Is all wiring cat 6 plenum?

Answer: Refer to SOO and previously answered questions. Plenum cable is required in plenum air spaces. Office spaces, on South side of building, are drop ceiling plenum spaces. Industrial areas are mostly not.

Question 23. Do you want all Leviton inserts?

Answer: Refer to SOO. YES

Question 24. Do you want Leviton quickport patch panels?

Answer: Refer to SOO. YES

Question 25. Is there an open pathway over the main entry 100-1?

Answer: You should plan on creating your own pathway

Question 26. Do you want EMT going down all concert walls where data drops will be?

Answer: Refer to the SOO. All drops installed in industrial areas will require EMT and surface mounting. Most office area walls are drywall. Cut ins are preferred In office areas, unless unfeasible due to wall composition.

Question 27. Do you want a 45U four-post data rack (any brand requirements)?

Answer: 45U, Securable, 4 post rack, with VERTICAL cable management. No brand requirements.

Question 28. Can we get a picture of above the ceiling?

Answer: Office areas have a minimum of two feet clearance, above ceiling tiles. Mostly open. There are a couple of sheetrock firewalls to pass through.

Question 29. How many SFP modules? One?

Answer:

- C9300-48P-A (2 switches)

- PWR-C1-715WAC-P (Primary)

- PWR-C1-715WAC-P (Redundant)

- C9300-NM-4M (1 per switch)

- SFP-LH-SM (4 total)

Question 30. We should have a ground bar near the cabinet with a #6 green wire going back to the common ground. Will the electrician be doing this?

Answer: Refer to SOO. This is not in the scope of the project.

Question 31. Vertical cable management modules don't fit in an enclosed cabinet.

Answer: There are commercially available 4 post securable racks, which have integrated (Inside the confines of the securable rack) vertical cable management. The 934th has several in use at this time.

Question 32. Horizontal ones usually have a piece on both ends that will suffice.

Answer: Horizontal cable management will not suffice as Vertical Cable Management
