Site Visit Questions and Responses #1 Project No. QJKL 15-0028
Install Automatic Vehicle Gates, POL
1. QUESTION: Sheet C-02 does not correctly represent the existing conditions of the area by where the 24’ swing gate is to be installed. Can an updated drawing with dimensions be provided?
RESPONSE: The existing opening is approximately 34’, therefore the area of bituminous that is to be removed and replaced with topsoil/seeding is approximately 10’ to the east from the existing grass. The new gate will be 24’ from the east curb to the west.
2. QUESTION: Is there an existing topo map for the 40’ gate area? There was one provided for the east swing gate, but not one provided for the sliding gate. Can the Government provide a plan showing the topo map for the sliding gate?
RESPONSE: There is not an existing topo survey of the west gate. However, the area is relatively flat and the government believes that a topo survey is unnecessary.
3. QUESTION: Can the government explain the note with Spec section 32 31 00 that states (if used in Construction)?
RESPONSE: The specifications, 32 31 00, were provided by the gate manufacturer and subsequently used as the basis for the design drawings. The contractor is free to choose a different gate, subject to the government's approval.
