FA568219QWIFI 31 OG Wi-Fi Service and Installation –
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1) Must the distance of Access Points from secure areas be 3M or more?
a. Yes, the requirement is minimum of 3M.
2) Are Comm. cabinets one and two in Building 7300 connected by fiber?
a. Yes, fiber patch panel connects the two rooms
3) Are ports connected to internal cabling in all buildings?
a. Yes
4) Are all three buildings connected by the same fiber to the ERS or individually?
a. Each building uses a unique fiber path to its on Core services building but can technically be patched to the ERS.
b. Bldg. 1230 connects to the West Remote and then can patch onto the Fiber connecting the two Facilities. 1173 and 7300 have their own independent connections to the East Remote.
5) Can Fiber drawings/diagrams be provided for the buildings?
a. This is not needed in order to perform the job required.
6) Will Vendors need to connect buildings to access points outside the base or will the connections be provided?
a. All APs will be located within the building or attached to the building structures outside if necessary. Nothing will be connect off Aviano Air Base.
7) Does internal cabling exist or will that need to be supplied?
a. Inside plant cabling exists but, new cable will need to be pulled from existing wall ports if a wall port or cabling is not available at the desired location, the vendor will install the CAT6 cable from the comm room to the location.
8) How much rack space is available for use in each building? Is a separate cabinet required to house contractor provided equipment?
a. Bldg. 7300 outside comm room #44 has room for vendor equipment
b. Bldg. 1173 comm room has room for vendor equipment
c. Bldg. 1230 comm room has limited space (4 RU max) and no room for another
9) With reference to the attached diagrams, the difference between "Desired" (marked in yellow) and "Required" (in red) is not clear. In particular for the building 7300 (where the colors used are Red and Green, both referring to "Requested" environments). Are the former intended as optional? Furthermore, in the Specifications in paragraph 4.2, no difference is made between the various rooms.
a. For building 7300, the “desired” and “required” areas overlap—areas marked “required” must have Wi-Fi coverage, and any overlapping “desired” areas does not influence that requirement. The requirement is to maximize the Wi-Fi signals in all three buildings in accordance with the working in paragraph 4.2 and the maps; potential contractors should attempt to ensure Wi-Fi coverage in all areas marked “desired” while complying with the signal restrictions in Paragraph 4.2.
Failure to provide sufficient signal in an area marked “desired” would indicate the contract does not fulfill the squadrons’ needs.
For building 7300, rooms 19-20-21, but also room 4, are areas far from the indicated coverage.
b. See Amendment 1 to the RFQ incorporating SOW and Attachment 1 Revised dated Jun 19
