DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES AIR FORCE

WASHINGTON DC

10 March 2021

MEMORANDUM FOR Any USAF entity participating in or contracting for Live Tissue Training

FROM: Director, USAF Animal Use Oversight & Compliance

AFMRA/SGE-C

7700 Arlington Boulevard, Suite 5151 Falls Church VA 22042-5164

SUBJECT: List of Approved Vendors for US Air Force Live Tissue Training (LTT)

1. Effective on the date of this memorandum, five AAALAC-accredited vendors have been found to be in compliance with all applicable regulations and are APPROVED for the US Air Force list of approved LTT vendors. In alphabetical order, these vendors are:

• Assessment and Training Solutions Consulting Corporation (ATSCC)

• SIMMEC Training Solutions

• Stony Brook University

• Tier One Group

• Wake Forest University

2. Approval is based on favorable reviews of the Animal Care and Use Program and the animal protocol, along with the USAF Chief of Surgical Services’ approval of the Programs of Instruction.

3. The maintenance of USDA Registration (unless otherwise exempt from this requirement by meeting the conditions in Title 7, U.S.C., and Title 9, CFR) and AAALAC accreditation, along with strict adherence to Federal laws and DoD and USAF regulations is required. Any subsequent program review or inspection that determines that medical training is no longer in compliance with these requirements will result in the immediate suspension of approval for participation by USAF personnel.

4. This correspondence should not be construed as approval for contractual funding as only a Contracting Officer can authorize award and expenditure of funds. As per DoDI 3216.01 paragraph 3.2.a. (“Clause in Contracts and Agreements”), all contracts for DoD-supported training must contain Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) clause 252.235-7002. Agreements not subject to the DFARS (e.g., grants, cooperative research, and development agreements) must contain language equivalent to that in DFARS 252.235-7002.

5. Please direct any questions to the undersigned at brett.j.taylor2.mil@mail.mil.
