(Question 1)

Is a Bachelor of Science degree necessary? If this position could be filled with either an Associates Degree RN (ADN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), it would broaden the potential pool of US Educated nurse applicants who are already living in the area. Other military bases use an LPN for UM Nurse. Also, instead of the requirement of education in “an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education”, the requirement of “college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)” would broaden the potential pool of US Educated nurse applicants.

(Answer on Question 1)

In accordance with AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION (AFI) dated 10 January 2019, the requirement for this position is a Bachelor of Science degree and Registered Nurse (RN). Please refer 2.18 on page 13 of AFI 44-173.

(Question 2)

Is Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required for this position? In our experience and knowledge, the certification is mandatory for all health care providers, but we couldn’t find it on the PWS.

(Answer on question 2)

BLS is not a qualification requirement for contract award, however, it is a requirement to work in the medical treatment facility. The 35th MDG provides monthly training sessions for those who require the training. This monthly training is provided at no cost to the contractor.
