EARTHQUAKE REPAIRS MULTIPLE FACILITIES

The following are responses to the questions submitted for about project.

1. Please confirm arrows shown on the drawings do not indicate the actual number of cracks and does not provide detailed information, like length or height of cracks

Response: As noted in drawings, “NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR TO FIELD VERIFY ALL

DISTANCES, DIMENSIONS, AND LOCATIONS.”

2. Please confirm that bidders should use the information they gathered during a site trip for that detailed information.

Response: As noted in drawings, “NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR TO FIELD VERIFY ALL

DISTANCES, DIMENSIONS, AND LOCATIONS.”

3. Attachment 1, section 4.1.1 “Building 7053 Repair” doesn’t mention repairing the exterior stucco cracks. Please confirm we are repairing the cracks as indicated on drawing A-1 and as described on the site trip.

Response: Patch/repair existing exterior Stucco damages identified on drawings. Prep and paint to match existing finish. Paint must be minimum two coats applied over a coat of primer and match existing paint color and sheen. Contractor must submit physical paint samples for selection, not an electronic or printed image.

4. Regarding the stucco cracks for building 7053; will the window caulking be replaced where it has come away from the wall following the stucco cracks? The window caulking has pulled away at the top of a stucco crack, sometimes in line with the crack and sometimes perpendicular to the crack. 2 photos are attached.

Response: Remove existing window caulk in areas only associated with Stucco damages, prep, and re-caulk. Contractor must submit all materials for Government approval.

5. For building 7076, removing and replacing the caulk for the architectural exterior ledge: Please confirm it is only the caulking between the top of the ledge and building.

Response: It is any caulk associated with the architectural ledge.

6. Please confirm that 2 expansion joints in building 7083 will need to be replaced.

Response: Confirm two expansion joint flashings will need to be replaced, not the expansion joints themselves.

7. Please confirm that in building 7083 that 10 reusable expansion joints must have caulking on both sides [where they connect to painted walls, not carpeted walls] removed and replaced even if the caulking is only cracked on one side of the joint to ensure a good seal/repair.

Response: Any caulk associated with the seismic joint flashing no matter where they may be connected must follow 4.3.1.2
