DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

HEADQUARTERS, 673D AIR BASE WING

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, ALASKA

Q&A Bldg. 55 Video Surveillance 7 May, 2020

Q1. Clarification on camera recording. Do they require record on motion or 24/7 record all the time. This will make a huge difference on cost and size of server needed.

A1. No. The VMS will consist of the following: require the ability to record all cameras for 31 days at 4K resolution. Entry cameras will record 24x7, all other cameras will be configured to record all motion and 2 min after.

Q2. There are no stacked electrical, janitor or communications closet and the communications room is in the basement. We will need to establish pathways from top floor into basement thru dorm room closets. Is this acceptable?

A2. Yes

Q3. Is there a requirement to have all cables in conduit and painted as there are no drop ceilings or existing pathways down hallways or will wire mold be acceptable?

A3. Conduit but not painted. The ceiling in the hallways is not drop but it is hollow. Cable TV was piped to each room via that method.

Q4. Is all cable Cat6A Plenum? Any specific color?

A4. Yes Plenum. Color no.

Q5. Use of a floor mounted 72U, lockable network cabinet rather than a wall mount as specified. If they require 24/7 recording we will need this larger rack to hold the server and wall space was limited.

A5. Yes floor mounted is acceptable.

Q6. DVD of training to be provided. Will the use of a cell phone to record the training and then put on a DVD will this be acceptable?

A6. Yes

Q7. Is comm room only on basement floor?

A7. Yes

Q8. Attached PWS, page 3, under note 2, says to provide Network attached storage. Can we go less expensive /better route and provide NDAA compliant NVR with 31 day storage instead?

A8. As long as storage is RAID 5 or better. VMS will need to be setup in RAID 5 or better.

Q9. Is this project tax exempt?

A9. No this is not a tax exempt requirement.

Q10. Regarding attached drawings and marked camera locations. Based on drawings, we only install cameras indoor and no cameras around the building outdoor, correct?

A10. Please review the facility layout with the camera locations pdf.
