Solicitation No: FA5000-19-QA-088 Project: Bldg. 800 Asbestos Abatement Subject: Amendment for Questions and Answers
Questions / Answers:
The purpose of this amendment is to clarify and answer the questions submitted by the contractors.
Q1: In the Sprinkler room do we need to demolish the GWB ceiling to access the pipe? Do we have to replace GWB removed?
A1: Contractor will be responsible for replacing GWB/mud and taping if ceiling needs to be removed to access pipe for abatement.
Q2: Will the building occupied, can we work at night without people there? Weekends?
A2: Abatement area will be available to work nights and weekends while building is unoccupied.
Q3: This project will require a 2 week NESHAP notice before we can begin, can the period of perfor-mance be extended past 31 Oct. so we can coordinate with the building owner to conduct work off hours and not interrupt normal work activities?
A3: Project deadline is OCT 31st due to heat being shut off to building and possibility of freeze ups with winter temperatures.
Q4: Will the live pipes be isolated and shut down before we do the work? Does the contractor have to hire subcontractor for this part or will CE do this?
A4: CE will be responsible for shutting down steam and hot water lines for abatement. After abatement is completed CE will be responsible for bring system back up.
Q5: The Boiler Room is excluded inside the area correct?
A5: Boiler room is included in this project.
Q6: Will the client move all materials below piping in main area before arrival for access to piping by contractor A6: with a 5 day advanced notice occupants will move all items under piping to allow for abatement.
Storage racks along West wall will have all items removed from the top to allow for abatement, but will not be moved.
Q7: Does the QTY amount provided discount the fiberglass insulated lines already or not?
A7: Quantity amount is a best guess estimate of possible asbestos containing insulation in abatement area of building. Contractor will be responsible for their own measurements and will deter-mine quantity amount for bid.
Q8: Do we need to supply Asbestos Free stickers on all new insulated pipes and existing fiberglass ones?
A8: Asbestos free sticker will be applied to all new insulation and existing fiberglass insulation.
Q9: Will you disseminate the pre bid job sign in sheet?
What type of clearance monitoring is expected for the area? PCM/ TEM Aggressive/ Non aggressive?
How many samples will be expected in the area?
A9: Follow Industrial standards for clearance samples, and amount of clearance samples should be ap-propriate for the amount of square footage of project.
Q10: Will CE conduct the clearance testing for the project or will the independent third party air moni-toring company do so?
A10: Contractor will be responsible to hire a third party air monitoring company for all air samples, and cost will be included in bid.
Q11: Are there any as-built to get information on pipe diameter and wall thickness for reinsulating?
A11: Drawings will be provided for information only and may be inaccurate, contractor shall confirm measurements and sizes for bid purpose.
Q12: Will the building be occupied at all times? Are there possible dates when the building will be unoc-cupied?
A12: Building will be unoccupied on nights and weekends and will be available to work.
