Project/Program Name:
Laparoscopic Light Source Estimated Contract Cost:
Section B: Description of the Supplies/Services Required
A Laparoscopic Light Source is required in the Surgical Suite flight to replace their previous version of the product which has met its life expectancy. It is no longer serviceable and products will be decommissioned. Without the Laparoscopic Light Source product all laparoscopic cases including emergency cases will be need to be sent downtown.
Section C: Justification for Brand Name
The 673 MDG Surgical Suite flight is requesting the purchase of 6 Laparoscopic Light Sources to uphold mission requirements. The Laparoscopic Light Source manufactured by Stryker is the only light source compatible with the current Laparoscopic Tower that we have in our facility. No other laparoscopic light source will work or is viable with the current system we have due to the tower, light cables and accessories all being manufactured by Stryker.
Section D: Efforts to Obtain Competition
This item is not available ECAT or PV.
Section E: Steps to Preclude Future Single Source Awards
There are two options for precluding single source.
1. A different brand of laparoscopic devices would have to be acquired.
2. The manufactuer would have to expand authorized brand vendor list for more competition.
Section F: Contracting Officer's Determination
I have determined, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), that the circumstances of this contract action deem a brand name procurement is reasonable.
