FA489719BA011 – Construct Vehicle Barrier KTR
Question Questions & Answers #2
(1) In the revised SOW, requirements #4 states that the “vehicle barriers must be certified at the specified rating”. Does certified rating mean physically crash tested certified, engineered certified or both? Drop Arm Barriers on the DoD barrier list are physically crash tested certified at the shown width of the barrier, i.e. 18’ wide.
Response:
Bidder Inquiry #12 from the first set of Q&A’s asked if the barriers had to be listed on the current DOD approved barrier list. The Response to that question was that “Gates listed on the DOD list are preferable, however, alternate gates will be acceptable provided that they meet the K12/M50 standard and the P-rating as listed in Q&A 11 response.”
In order to meet the stated K12/M50 standard and the P-rating, ASTM F2656-07, Standard Test Method for Vehicle Crash Testing of Perimeter Barriers must be satisfied. Manufacturer’s Certification regarding ASTM F2656-07 is required.
(2) Can an “engineered certified” barrier be acceptable that meets the specified project rating requirements?
Response:
See Response to Question #1.
(3) Per the response to question #22, please clarify “to the greatest extent possible”? Can or can we not use multiple barrier manufactures on this project for the four drop arm barriers?
Response:
Yes, multiple barrier manufacturers may be used on this project.
