About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding requirements for an FY23 HAZMAT storage facility at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The facility must be between 42-45 feet wide and 8 feet deep to store hazardous materials. High and low level gas sensors are preferred, with high sensors installed if only one is available. Five ceiling lights spanning the width of the facility are required. A 36-inch rollup door and additional entry door can be placed on either the 42-foot or 8-foot side of the building. The rollup door must be at least 48 inches wide to accommodate current storage walkways over 50 inches wide.

FY23 355 MXG HAZMAT Storage-FA487723QA443

Q1. Can you provide information on the budget allocated for this project?

A1. The government is not allowed to disclose budget information.

Q2. Is this a new contract or was there a past incumbent?

A2. This is a new requirement.

Q3. Can the building be 42'W x 8'D to keep it standard and on our contract? If not I can go custom at 45'W x 8'D A3. Yes, 42‘ will still be sufficient.

Q4. The location changes based on if the gas is heavier or lighter then air. If the sensor needs to be low, we normally install 18in above the grating, if it needs to be high, we normally install it 60 inches above the grating.

A4. High and Low sensors are preferred. If only one option is available we’ll go high so that it covers air being breathed in.

Q5. How many lights are needed?

A5. 5 lights of any sort spanning the 42’ or 45’ length down the center of the ceiling, or equivalent coverage.

Q6. Can the rollup door and other entry door both be on the 42'+ side of the building? We usually leave the 8' sides for HVAC and dry chemical fire suppression to help out with shipping costs to make this not an oversized load.

A6. Yes, we are flexible with door install. Current intended use/floorplans have the door centered on the 42’ / 45’ side but location of either door isn’t a hard line.

Q7. Is there a particular size of roll up door Davis-Monthan requires?

Q7. 36” width is mandatory, 48” width is the minimum preferred, current storage has over 50” in walkway. Anything greater than or equal to 48” will be sufficient.
