SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
FOR
A-10 Maintenance Stands
SCOPE OF WORK:
All proposed products shall meet or exceed the minimum specifications outlined in this Salient Characterists. All items shall be delivered to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) – FOB DESTINATION
PRODUCT PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION:
Each A-10 maintenance stands must meet the following minimum specifications:
A-10 MAINTENANCE STAND SPECIFICATIONS
Dimensions:
A-10 COCKPIT MAINT STAND
• Width: 48”
• Length: 145”
• Height: 76” – 100”
A-10 LEADING EDGE WING MAINT STAND
• Width: 48”
• Length:145”
• Height: 76”-100”
A-10 TRAILING EDGE WING MAINT STAND
• Width: 48”
• Length: 215”
• Height: 96”-110”
Working load: Minimum load capacity: 800 lbs. (363 kg) per stand
Stand material: Each stand must be made with heavy duty aluminum
Warranty: Each stand shall have a minimum 3 year warranty
Features: • Each stand must have a minimum of four heavy duty locking swivel casters with brakes (similar to P/N RST7653000 / NSN:
5340-01-396-0533)
• Stands should have adjustable deck sections
• Adjustable deck sections should be flexible for use and able to conform to different aircraft fuselage/wing configurations while providing minimum gap distance for fall protection between stand and aircraft
• Stands should be fully mobile and independent of other sections and easily connected or disconnected from other stands
• Heavy duty manufacture installed jack mounting plate(s) for added strength when raising and lowering the stands.
• Contractor shall propose options for an electrical input, circuit protectors and emergency shutoffs with flush mounted outlets in the deck section; as a minimum there shall be two (2) electrical connection (120V, single phase, 60Hz) per stand
• Contractor shall propose options for lights, above and below the stand platform
• Contractor shall propose options for an integrated air system connection point for pneumatic tools. At a minimum, two (2) points of supply on each stand- quick disconnect couplings (1/4 inch input and output)
• Contractor shall propose options for a part storage shelf o The shelf must be below the walking platform o The shelf must be under the walking platform and not extend past any part of the stand o Bolt on and/or L brackets are acceptable o The shelf must be made of high durable material to hold appx. 100lb per shelf but not degrade the integrity of the stand
• Stairways must allow the stair step/treads to remain parallel to the ground regardless of height-stairways steps/threads must be removable and the bottom step/tread castors must stay in constant contact with the ground regardless of height
• All hardware used will be self-locking due to FOD potential
• All surfaces that may come in contact with the aircraft require padding
• Rub/chaff guards to all locations where the stands would touch the aircraft
• Must include removable rail for stairway opening for use when stairs are removed
• Contractor shall propose options for an END of WING rail(s) that connect the leading and trailing edge stand rail to provide fall protection while working on the surface of the wing
• Contractor shall propose options for an OVER the NOSE removable rail(s) connecting the cock pit stands rails to provide fall protection while working on the cock pit
• Stand design shall not extend past the wing tip of the A-10
• All open tube ends that pose a safety or F.O.D. hazard will have a welded cap installed
• Any and all sharp edges will be rounded and de-burred
• Contractor shall include on site assembly and training.
o On site assembly will accompany each maintenance stand set and training will only be required for the first set
Minimum Safety Specs:
• OSHA 29 CFR 1910 compliant
• OSHA 190D compliant
• Stands should be corrosive resistant and contain an identification plate and meet or exceed safety and design requirements as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and AFOSH 91-203.
• All electrical system components and circuits will be in accordance with NFPA 70 of Nat Elec code
• Handrails must comply with OSHA and AFOSH Regulations for fall protection and must be easily removable (without any tools), independent and interchangeable
• Deck surface must meet OSHA and AFOSH Standards
• Manufacture installed yellow/black caution tape used as reference to where the maintenance deck slider meets the A-10
