Q: Are you okay with satellite System?
A: Yes Q: Have you tested your IPTV network by injecting AV from other sources like DVD?
A: Not aware of testing Q: The Dorm Dayrooms, Are they already wired ? Or do we need to wire and install all of the STB's in all of the Dorm dayrooms
A: The dorm dayrooms are already wired. Each building for the dorm has a dish on it and it provides a feed to the dayrooms in that building. The dorm dayroom do not use IPTV currently. The dorm dayrooms get a full cable line-up and are not limited to the 11 channels that IPTV provides. The intention is not to install IPTV in the dorm dayrooms.
Q: Are the dish's that feed the dayrooms all DirecTV Dish's ?
A: Yes, the dishes that feed all the dayrooms are currently DirecTV.
Q: Does the main building with the IP equipment in it, Also have any satellite dish's on it ?
A: Yes, Bldg 6 has a dish in the equipment yard, not mounted on the facility, with a splitter inside the building that breaks out the signal into 11 separate boxes. Allowing the base to choose 11 channels to supply from the standard lineup.
Q: Will the signal be encrypted to the STB?
A: No, for IPTV the signal is sent over the network via HAIVISION end equipment.
Q: Will all endpoints have a STB?
A: No, some endpoints will be viewed on computers via the HAIVISION website.
Q: Will there be tablets or laptops in use?
A: Yes, but only base laptops with the current Standard Desktop Configuration and used on the base network. They could use laptops or desktops. There will be no VPN'ing into IPTV.
Q: What is meant by 500 up to maximum of 3000 concurrent users? Does that mean have the capacity to upgrade to 3000 or is Nellis planning some type of growth on the use of the system? Or is it immediate ability to use 3000 like a "burstable" circuit?
A: Currently we have purchase through HAIVISION to allow up to 500 concurrent users to utilize IPTV. If we start reaching the limit, we will purchase additional licenses through HAIVISION to allow us to broadcast to more users. The licenses are purchased in blocks of 500. We do not expect to purchase these extra licenses, but we the content provider to be aware of how many customers they are servicing. We want the content provider to let us know if there is any additional fees from them to broadcast IPTV to 500 or possibly more than 500 concurrent users.
Q: Is it requested to have a standard cable box in the Dayrooms?
A: Yes in the dayrooms, we do not want to use IPTV. These would have their own cable box with a full standard channel lineup.
Q: Do you have a diagram that shows how the Hai Vision system is installed, how it will encrypt and distribute the signal?
A: No we do not currently have a diagram. The signal currently comes in via
DirecTV satellite signal. The signal is separated into 11 different DirecTV boxes. Each signal is fed into a HAIVISION encoder. The encoder feeds the
HAIVISION server and the output from the encoder is sent to a base NIPRNet switch. The switch then distributes those signals out to the base network via multicasting in sparse mode.
