Relocatable Mobile 4-Post High-Density Safety Storage System
Project Title: 95 AMU Support Section Spacesaver for tools/equipment items
Introduction: The Support Section is needs a new storage system to replace old broken and deteriorated shelving. The new system should the same roller track style concept with shelving dimensions to more effectively facilitate storage of our equipment. Additionally the section will need new shelving along the walkway to the service counter to include a lockable swinging gate.
The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, materials, tools, supervision, shipping and transportation necessary.
Background: The current system has two driving factors, 1 being a safety concern where some shelves are separating from the unit. This caused a risk to personnel placing items on and off the shelves where a majority of the equipment is heavy; and 2, the placement of some equipment obstructs walkways posing tripping hazards, injury to personnel and/or damage to equipment. The Support Section does utilize ISUs (large green storage bins utilized for deployments and temporary duty stations) for some storage of heavy low use equipment, however is not conducive to operate in this manor due to exposure to the elements.
Objectives: the objective of this project is to alleviate safety hazards as well as revamp the storage system to more efficiently stow equipment within the limited space available.
Scope: The storage system requested for purchase for the mission requirement is a turnkey solution. The work should include removal of the old shelving system and assembly of rail platform to be placed on top of the existing floor with no structural modifications as well as assembly, configuration, and stabilization of carriage and shelving system with no modifications to the facility and/or structure. Placement of complete assembled cabinets and counter tops that do not require additional assembly or alterations with no modifications to the facility and/or structure.
This is a Turnkey solution that does not involve additional construction or reconfiguration of the facility. The storage solutions being requested should be designed around our requirements as well as available storage space within our current section.
Work Detail: Our work area is approximately 3,199 square feet, this includes the entrance and walkway to our support section front counter to the integrated supply section. The walkway is 48” and widens to an “L” shape corner to an area of 84” to the front pivot gate. We require new shelving with cubies be installed to accommodate 75 laptop computers in an industrial environment along with foot level open drawers for heavy equipment storage. The counter tops need to be durable metal for issuing tools and equipment. The counter top needs to run all the way to the supply section help desks.
The storage area is approximately 32 x 16 feet and we need 6 track rail storage units 87” high 48 x 30 inches with each back row 36 x 30 inches 5 shelves high. The last row needs to have 4 slots available for 10 drawers 36 x 24 inches and the 5th slot be 5 shelves. The drawers need to be deep and shallow from 8, 6, and 4 inches; one 8 inch, five 6 inch and four 4 inches. The remaining shelving to be installed on back walls is sufficient to serve our purpose, so the scope of work will be from the front entrance counter and gate area to the track rail storage units and our supply storage. The rail/cabinet system dimensions will be of the same as the existing system, however will space dimensions will be tailored to accommodate our specific equipment.
