FA4803-19-R-A0009 Questions and Answers, VLSB 19-0056 Attachment 9
1. What is the exact clearance of drop arms for traffic clearance?
The drop arms when raised shall have all components behind the respective curb. This is so that larger wider trucks will not damage the gate if raised.
2. What are the work hours’ restrictions?
Normal gate operating time is from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm. The peak times coming onto the base is from 6 am to 8 am and between noon and 1 pm. During these times, if possible, the #2 inbound lane should be open to allow for additional traffic to pass through the gate. If work needs to be performed after 6 pm this can be coordinated with construction management, and the contractor will have to leave through the main gate.
3. In what direction should the drop arm swing point?
The drop arm base should be installed in the grass median directly east of the gate.
4. Do the drop arms have to be K- rated
The drop arms do not have to have an official K rating, but do need to meet at a minimum the specifications of a K-4 rated barrier.
