BLDG 355 RFI's
1. Are we allowed to use paint spray equipment?
Answer: Spray Equipment can be used provided all SCAQMD rules and regulations are followed.
2. As per scope of work is it one coat of primer and three coats of finish?
Answer: Yes.
3. What are the paint finishes for hangar, windows and doors i.e. flat, gloss, semi gloss, eggshell?
Answer: Antique Linen shall be eggshell. Tobacco Brown shall be satin. Refer to Facilities Excellent Plan.
4. At least one or not more entry doors have delamination, what is to be done with these?
Answer: Delamination must be suitably repaired to accept new paint.
5. There are numerous pallets around hangar, will these be removed so we can drive our equipment around hangar?
6. There is some unsightly patching around building are we responsible for trying to make it look better?
Answer: Contractor is only responsible for patches and repairs necessary to ensure the integrity of the paint. Unsightly existing patches which are serviceable will be prepped and painted.
7. Are we going to be able to get progress payments i.e. once abatement is completed, upon completion of primer, and upon completion of progressive coats of paint?
Answer: Yes
8. Is there an allowance on job days if we have inclement weather?
Answer: Delays shall be handled in accordance with FAR Clause 52.249-10
9. Is there a preference for Service Disabled Veterans?
Answer: No
10. Is there a survey for lead and asbestos?
Answer: No
11. Are we removing 100% paint of the windows systems?
12. Will we have access to the interior? (potential asbestos on the window putty) 13. Would we need lead clearances?
Answer: The contractor can access the interior. Please clarify question about lead clearances.
13. Will new 8" half round sheet metal gutters be acceptable?
Answer: Existing 8 inch half round copper rain gutters can be replaced with the following:
Aluminum .032 inch Stainless steel .015 inch Terne coated stainless steel .015 inch Zinc coated steel 24 gauge New gutters must be painted Tobacco Brown.
*Refer to Facilities Excellence Plan for Color.
14. Replacement glass (1/4" wired) will it be clear glass or obscured glass?
Answer: Match existing
15. Will the existing windows that are clear with no wire be replaced with 1/4" wired glass.
Answer: Match existing
16. Is March AFB supplying utilities (electric and water)?
Answer: Yes
17. The specs call for Statement of Work dated 7/26/2018, the only Statement of Work I have been given is dated 8/16/2018,is this the correct Statement of Work?
Answer: The correct SOW is dated 16 Aug 2018
18. In the plans of the solicitation there are numerous items of described work. Please confirm that these items are not included in the expected scope of work.
Answer: The plans included are for dimensional information only. The New Work Notes or any other descriptions of work from the plan drawings do not apply to this painting project.
19. Please provide quantity of downspouts to be removed.
Answer: There are 22 downspouts of varying lengths. There are 4 each x 9 ft., 6 x 6 ft., 6 x 2.5 ft., 2 x 15 ft., 4 x 11 ft. Total length is 161 LF. Contractor is responsible to field verify all dimensions and quantities.
20. Scope 2.1.5 states to remove all paint from windows. 2.4.8 states to repaint all windows currently painted, Which is it?
Answer: Remove paint from all windows. No windows shall be painted. Revised SOW (dated 28 August 2018) to remove section 2.4.8 will be incorporated.
21. Can painting of 355 be accomplished by spraying?
Answer: Paint can be sprayed provided all applicable SCAQMD rules and regulations are followed.
22. Mention of lead and asbestos was indicated in Statement of Work, however no report was included. Please indicate where and what quantities are present.
Answer: There are no test reports for this building. Materials which will be disturbed must be tested.
23. 2.3.2 requests new hanger door flashing be installed, please state what gauge metal you require.
Answer: 28 gauge steel, painted Antique Linen (refer to Facilities Excellent Plan).
24. 2.3.4 requests new rain gutters be installed. Are the new gutters to be copper or pre-painted steel? Please also clarify gauge of metal you require.
Answer: Existing 8 inch half round copper rain gutters can be replaced with the following:
Aluminum .032 inch Stainless steel .015 inch Terne coated stainless steel .015 inch Zinc coated steel 24 gauge New gutters must be painted Tobacco Brown.
